Default E Mgmnt - Dyno Tune necessary??

If i were to buy a unichip or UTEC, aren't these plug and play? I could just plug in the unit without getting an actual dyno tune, right? Are there custom maps out for common mods?

TurboXS used to provide base maps for the Subaru's. If you're getting your Unichip with an APS system then you will be able to get an appropriate base map. (cats, no cats, etc.)

It all depends on your combination of mods. There are a couple of base maps, but they may not be "the best" tune for your car given your altitude and weather conditions etc... With the EU and Utec you can do tuning on the street with a laptop if you have the right monitoring tools such as a wideband O2 sensor. As more people start to install these tuning solutions there will be more maps that become available. Tuning for your car on the dyno will most likely result in the best possible results with a good tuner which is why people spend the extra money. With an NA car it wouldn't take too long on the dyno to dial things in.

I'm NA w/Unichip.... I would wat til you have more mods. Exhaust and popcharger probably wont hurt your AFs. If/when you add headers, cats, test pipes or a plenum upgrade you would to re-tune the unichip again.

You'll be surprized with the difference an EMS can make!

Nice.. how do you like your setup RNL? I'll be buying the MD spacer shortly, probably some resonated test pipes and strup headers after. I take it you got it tuned at Scott Performance? What are your #s?

You can connect either system, and drive off. The eManage does not come with any base maps. The UTEC comes with a basemap for Intake/Exhaust. From experience, you will need a retune for best results.
