what problems come with the 2003 that can be fixed under warranty?
hey everyone. I have a 2003 z performance version i believe, manual 6spd. what problems does the car have that nissan is fixing under warranty? its been over 3 years (3 years and 2 months to be exact) and the car has 15K miles on it. sorry for not searching previous threads but i was hoping someone can just run a quick list down for me. thanks in advance. one more thing, i have noticed when i and poping into 1 or 2nd gear (sometimes even in 3rd gear) i feel this as if i'm hitting something and its not going into the gear smoothly. does anyone know if this is normal?
what problems? 03's have probelms?
j/k
tranny issue (5th gear syncro)
crank speed sensor
tire roar/feathering
window grease streaks
window motor stop position needs recallibration(rolls half down on its own)
rear axle clicking
......post the others, thats all i can think of off the top of my head
but your basic warranty is out. still have a 5yr 60k mile powertrain warranty

Nissan only fixes problems if you actually have the problem, I'm pretty sure you'd know if you had the problems listed.... If you think your tranny is messed up take it to Nissan and see what they say, they may replace it under warranty.

hmm so if I have a tranny issue after 3 years and say 42k i can have them replace?the tranny was already done maybe 25k miles ago by the previous owner but I just recently started feeling a slight grind going into 5th. I was starting to get worried because I thought my warrant was over.

I have an '03 Track and I sometimes feel like I got the only good one Nissan made but I have had some issues. The tire feathering thing really worried me but I've never had a problem with it. I think I read somewhere that lighter wheels can virtually eliminate it alltogether and my car came w/ the Nismo wheels so maybe that's it. The window grease did occur but I could live w/ that and it went away at about 20k miles. I didn't hear alot about the transmission problems until after I bought the car but I still haven't expirenced trouble there either. The trunk not opening was a problem (just enough to **** ya' off) but I fixed that w/ the 2 pennies trick. The only other real problem I've had is the clicking rear axle. I took it to the dealer but they claim that "that some clicking under hard acceleration was normal" and that they "could not reproduce the clicking when they test drove it." When I called BS and pulled out the TSB they said that I could bring it back on Monday when their head monkey would be back but I got too busy and never did. I'm kinda in the same boat as Indierock in that I am over the 3 yr mark but still under 30k miles. Has anyone here had warranty work done on an '03 after they passed the 3 yr mark? (I think I already know the answer I'm gonna get.)
thankd Davidz .. Runs to dig up warranty papers.... oh wait, f*&$ I dont know where those are.
Heres a better question has anyone ever had trouble getting the tranny replaced recently because I just got off with my local nissan service and the tone that came out was one like Ohhh boy another one. I even mentioned that It would be the second time this happened and all he sadi was you have to come in for an "assesment". Why do i think they wont change it now?

If the service dept. people are nice enough, you can pretty much get everything replaced under warranty. Even your basic warranty expired, they might fix it for you as a good will gesture. Some board members have experience with that.
Frankly, most nissan service depts. I heard aren't good.

There's no point in posting the issues one by one.

What sucks about getting something fixed under warranty is that the service dept has to replicate the issue. So if you are grinding gears and they go for a test drive and it doesn't grind...they won't fix it.
