Default New Dyno Results

Well, J's350Z and I went up to BM Tranny's DynoJet in Bound Brook today. My Z was bone stock, his had a custom earthing kit, the Jim Wolf intake and resonator removed. Here are my results:

First run: 244.2 HP, 246.1 lb.ft. - corrected to 238 and 240 respectively, I think.

Second run: 249.5, 249.7 - corrected to 243 and 243

Third run: 255.4, 250.5 - corrected to 249 and 249

Needless to say, I was very pleased. As for other info: about 3750 on the odometer, pretty cold day, like 35 degrees or so.

And I gotta say, Jason's exhaust just sings to you when it hits about 4000 RPMs. He'll be posting his numbers sometime later--

Normal break-in, although I accidentally went over 4 a couple of times. About 1150 or so, I winded it out for the first time, and I'll be changing the oil for the first time on Tuesday.

J's numbers were about 8-10HP over mine. He'll post his soon I hope. I need to get my dyno chart scanned, because they didn't have the ability to email it to me.

By the way, that third run should actually correct to 249HP and 244 lb.ft.

Out of curiousity, can anyone convert these to crank HP? I believe the standard assumption is 15%. Going the other way, multiplying by 1.18 gives 293HP and 287lb.ft., or 301 and 295 using the uncorrected numbers, as the guys there said I should use. Either way, not bad at all.

Default Here ya go...

My best (actual run) was 267 HP and 261 TQ... I was very pleased. Corrected #'s were 259 HP and 252 TQ. These #'S are off the top of my head since my graphs are at home and I'm at work, but I remember that my car had 10 more HP and 8 more TQ then Daytona's car... What was amazing was how smooth my TQ was with the grounding kit compared to Chris's without it. I will see if I can scan the 2 side by side so you can see. It was about 25 degree's out and the test was done with a fan it front of the car and the hood open..... And BTW, I run Mobil 1 and have 10,000 miles on the car.......

Assuming 15% drivetrain loss, your #s would equate to:
(15% loss : 1.00 - .15 = 0.85)

249 / .85 = 292.94 HP
244 / .85 = 287.05 TQ

Which is exactly what you posted, although we arrived at the result different ways.

Either way, nice strong #s you two!

Just curious, what correction factor did your dyno use? SAE, STD?

Default Got my graphs

My best run "Actual" was 264.4HP and 261.1TQ....Which corrected to "STD" was 256.9 and 253.4 TQ. Like I said earlier, I was very pleased with these results!!!!!!!!!
I guess I'll see what I can get with a little forced induction. Oh, and I plan on installing an air/fuel guage/monitor to watch because the car was running a little lean. But I run 94 octane in it so I should be fine.

Great numbers. I wonder if all of us can expect the HP & TQ numbers to climb over time. I have read (in this thread) that the ECU is pretty conservative. Either that, or the grounding kit and Mobil 1 are making up the 10HP difference. At any rate, congrats! I would be pleased, too.

Nice numbers Chris and Jason. Did either of you scan the dyno graphs yet? I'd like to see the difference with the grounding kit - I have yet to install mine. Hope neither of you are driving the Z today with this snow.

Jill,
Didn't you get enough of me yet . I don't have a scanner but I do have them in front of me with a fax machine if anyone wants.. Email me or PM me with your # and I'll send them right over. It is remarkable the difference with and without those stupid wires....Oh, and BTW, I have Daytona's(Chris) and my graph both with me....

Just seems like NJ Zs tend to be a little faster than other U.S. Zs.
