Default possible transmission problems

I went and picked up my '03 Enthusiast yesterday. I go to take it off the trailor today and release the e-brake as usual. The car was still in reverse, but it started rolling. I knock it out of gear and finish rolling it off. Bad thing is I heard a clanking noise coming from the car. A guy I know has a Chevy truck that made a noise similar to this when his tranny went out. My dad thought it was a plastic shield dragging the black top. I have never known of a car that would roll while in gear. I'm just wondering is there any way I can tell for sure without driving it down the road (it's wrecked)? Also if the trany is bad would any warranty or recall cover it? Thanks for any help.

Warranty will cover it...

Never been a "recall" since that would require Nissan to admit that the tranny in the Z's (some not all) suck!

Did you try to drive it?

not sure if it was wrecked. but if the motor shifted in the wreck, the driveshaft might have busted as it was designed to. make sure it has a driveshaft.

I don't any of the drivetrain shifted. It was hit in the back and wasn't crinkled up to the differential. Hopefully a warranty will cover it. Thanks.

The drive train warranty is for 60 months or 60,000 miles.

It's got 52K on it. So hopefully if it is bad the dealer won't give me a hassle over it being salvaged. When it get the rear suspension fixxed I'll take it for a short drive and I'll be able to tell then.
