Default UTEC tuner in Texas?

I realize this is a double post from another section (Texas local), but I wanted to hit a larger audience, in a more specialized section. So, apologies in advance to the mods.

Anyone know of a reputable UTEC tuner in Texas? I am near Dallas, but will drive a bit.

Still contemplating the UTEC or not. If I have to drive out of state then it isn't worth it. But I would like to take better advantage of my mods. I haven't had the first dyno yet, but as with most other setup on the OEM mappings I suspect it leans in the upper rpm band. Obviously I'll confirm this at the first opportunity before moving ahead with any engine management piggybacks.

I know a couple local places support the eManage systems, but that just seems like such a generic approach. And very bottom-up. The UTEC seems a bit more specialized, even if it is used on several different cars from different manufacturers. And it is a better overall "solution" from an implementation perspective.

Anyway, any tips on reputable and experienced UTEC tuners in the state would be a great help.

Thx

not sure if they do but you might want to give Jotech a call. http://www.jotechracing.com/

I called SGP and the guy I talked to didn't know what I was talking about when I asked about the UTEC. And Jotech doesn't do it either. They are only just now getting on-board with the Unichip. But Jotech uses mostly eManage right now.

Thx anyway guys

Question weird..

you would think since sgp sells it they would know how to tune it.. i emailed sgp about the setup i wanted(ati pro charger wit utec management) they recommended greddy ultimate for some reason .. I really want utec because its plug and play .. but i may have to do greddy ultimate if sgp recommended it .. (i have plenty other mods too and im sure ill make 400 hp .. I just wanted to focus on FI/management setup with them and see what they recommend)

UPDATE IS SGP DOES TUNE UTEC ON 350Z EXCELLENT I MIGHT ADD!

The one thing I like about Greddy is the dual mode switch. This way, you can cruise on "low" and turn it up with a flip of a switch. May help to cut down on engine wear...

from my understanding SGP has not been able to get the UTEC working well on any of the installs they have done. they are recommending the EU because they don't want install something they can't get to work properly. I heard that SGP had an old software for the UTEC so I don't know if that's why they couldn't get it working right.

SGP tuned my car with the EU and it ran great. When I got into Florida the hotter weather threw my tune off. Mark flew out to Miami installed the HKS FCON and retuned my car. It runs great now!

Is the FCON able to adjust for any weather conditions? I heard that is a completely stand-alone system, right? How much are those going for?

Yes the FCON is full standalone and acts just like a OEM ECU. It has it own air temp sensor and eliminates the maf. It will set you back about $3,400 with all harnesses, sensors, and knock amp.

Climate will affect your tune. The good news is that the EU has an auto tune feature for the a/f ratio. Have your tuner show you how to use it and if your a/f's get thrown off then you can auto tune. Once your tuner sets the timing you won't have to mess with it. I did not auto tune cause when I had the EU because I didn't know how to use it and anyway when you are as modded as me you really should be using a standalone for the best results and safety.
