Default Clutch, Flywheel, Plenum and Pulley

I had them all installed on Saturday at Performance Nissan. I went for the JWT clutch and flywheel, Motordyne 5/16 Plenum spacer, and a UR crank pulley, and of course new belts. At first when I picked up the car, it felt as though it had lost power. It wasn't neccessarily running poorly, it just felt like it had lost power. Anyway, Blue_Pen came with me and picked me up while the car was being worked on. We took a spin and he said it felt good, but I had my suspicions. I spoke to the service writer and told him I'd drive it for a week and see what happened.

Blue_Pen suggested I reset the ECU by unplugging the battery terminal overnight. I had my doubts about it, but anyone who knows me, knows that electricity and I don't get along. So wearily, I did it, knowing that Blue_Pen had yet to steer me wrong on anything.

Well, needless to say, WOW!!! What a difference! Now I see where the money went.

So to anyone considering these mods, go for it, you won't be dissapointed!

D.

I feel a big difference in the butt dyno, to be sure. More specifically:

More pull throughout the entire rev range, esecially from 4000 rpm to redline.
Low end performance is defeintiely improved, but most significant is top end.
The motor revs more quickly, but not like a Tilton set up which rivals motorcycles in rev up/down speed.
The clutch is silky smooth, at least in comparison t what came out, which may or may not have been stock. I don't know.
A bit more volume out of the engine bay, from the plenum spacer. And a bit more exhaust note, but that could be due to the fct that I have had my foot in it since the reset!

I raced a Maxima last night, (he started it, btw) and walked him. No surprise there. But I went at it with an unkown 350Z owner on the freeway last night and walked him to, but his car was stock, so once again, no surprise. The important thing is how badly I walked him. Either he was throttle shy, or my car has really gained a lot of hp and usable hp. Considering the mods, I think the car has gained.

It has taken my this much time to get used to the new clutch though, and I am just starting to get my launches back.

MPG increased noticabley, at least on the way home before the reset. I'll take another reading on the freeway this evening and post it, but it read 31.4 MPG (flame all you want, it is the truth!) on the way home from the dealer, and Blue_Pen and I were having a bit of fun racing each other.
