Exclamation Central 20 Gears Installed...!!!!

I just got my central 20 gears installed in my roadster. They required no shims and went togeather in just over 4hrs. Great mod for the money... $499 for the gears and $325 cash for the install....!!! Car feels so much better, runs in the power curve much quicker and stays on it. Notice 10-15% acceleration throughout the power curve in every gear. 6th gear now has a purpose.. where before you had to be doing 80+ for any type of power at all... it's now punchy all over and makes me smile more and more when you press the gas.... 1st is pretty useless but starting out in 2nd is a snap... what a great mod, highly recomended to everyone. No, noise or whining at all... the drivetrain feels stock but with more umpfh.... if anything I think the car is now easier to shift, the car likes the added rpm and in my opinion the 350 should come this way from the factory.

We have to meet up sometime. I'd like to feel the difference in gearing. Are you going to MRC's dyno day by chance?

MRC keeps changing the info it seems, it's not at there shop now? I thought it was supposed to be for the new dyno they got. Why are they having it at crazy horse something or other??? I want them to install a utec for me but no one has replied to my emails. I'm sure I will have to pay for dyno that day so I'd say no to the dyno day...

Congrats on the install of the gears. We can barely keep the Central20 gears in stock for more than a day. We do have one utec instock if anyone is interested.

Hey vz,

Hows the RPM at 80mph on the highway? Do you feel the z is wasting more gas now with the higher rpms?

The higher FD is considered useless with FI applications. People actually search for the 3.3 gears for FI for a longer 1st gear.

I wouldn't say that. It actually would be quite fun on a car with 400whp or less.

From what I've read, it makes 1st gear practically useless unless your running DR's. I would imagine in 3rd or 4th gear its a blast though.

I've driven a stage 2 Stillen z with 3.9 FD, Stillen TD exhaust, Stillen headers, Kinetix HFC, Nismo LSD, Nismo coilovers, and Nismo wheels with Goodyear F1 275/40R18's in the back. It was a blast. The car was an auto but it felt really planted. Reminded me of driving my dads C5 vette.

I have a Vortech SC Z running about 370RWHP and 305RWTQ and I also have the 5AT. I have changed out my gearing to the 3.5 FD. I actually did a pumpkin swap so that I had the option to go to the 3.9s if I chose to do so in the future. I really like the gearing mod for my Z! It does make the first shift very short in the 5AT, but its great once you get used to ****ing it w/o bouncing off the rev limiter. I would also like to see if anyone would chime in who has gone with the 3.9s on an F/I'd Z.

I had my 3.9 installed while I had Stillen stage 3. Car felt like a monster and was really quick through the gears esp from faster highway pulls.

Honestly the gas mileage isnt even noticable. At 80MPH in 5th Iam at 4000-4100RPM. In 6th at 80 iam about 3400RPM.
