Default clutch feels hard

ok i bought my 2003 350z used about 2 months ago, it has 30,000 miles. its 6MT and it was my first manual car ever to drive, i learned on it, and on my own. So the other day my friend with a 350z comes over and we switch cars and i drove his and his mine. His clutch feels so much softer than mine, and easier to press down. He says its an aftermarket clutch, but its ALOT softer, now mine feels like a workout when i push it. His is a 2004 btw. Any idea if I have a problem what it can be?

He has a different clutch. Ask him what else he changed out, if he knows, like pressure plate, flywheel,... Not sure what your question is. You already said he has different equipment.

Mine is stiffer than my friends (multiple) with factory clutches. The engagement point had been adjusted but it should not be stiffening the clutch pedal feel by just adjusting the engagement should it?

I wonder if I have an aftermarket clutch (bought car used). Any ideas on how to check without pulling the tranny?

This is completely normal. The 2003 cars (like mine) have a MUCH, MUCH stiffer clutch than the later cars. I forget when they made the change over, but I think it was 2004.5.

I can see why you thought this was a problem. I drove a friends 2005 car and it was radically softer.

Don't worry, nothing is wrong with either car. They are just different.
