Default WATs wrOng wit My car?? OVERheating?

my car is overheating when im standing still, but when i give it gas and hold it at like 2000 rpm the temp goes down. When im driving, if im not gasing it the car starts to over heat, but then ill gas it a little and hold the gas and the temp starts to go back to normal? WHAT is wrong wit my car? this problem refuses to go away.

Did you do any recent repairs or mods? Did this just start happening on it's own? If no repairs or mods recently I would say check over the cooling system. Check coolant level, bleed the coolant of any bubbles, and check to make sure the fans are kicking on at idle. Could be thermostat?? Sorry I am not much help, this just off top of my head.

Also, does running the AC or heater have any affect?

do you see green stuff on top of the radiator? don't expect it to go away, bring it to the dealer.

Yea im thinking its air in the system also, and ive burped it a few times. It always seems to come back. The fans are kicking on at idle. Roger at japtrix says I might need a bigger radiator cap, like the nismo one b/c the stock one is not sealing enough and letting in air. It makes sense so im gonna order the nismo one today.

It could be the thermostat too.

were you opening the rear vent while you were filling the rad? there is a vent back on the passenger side rear of the motor on the heater line. does your heater blow hot at idle? if not, you are just low on water.

hey how bout you guys go fullfill your time doing something useful, instead of wasting 10 seconds of my time to read your worthless posts, In fact I want my 10 seconds back. Losers is what you are now leave and dont come back. Im running 9 pounds of boost, so I mean head lift I hope shouldnt be an issue with me. Im not even flooring it when this problem occurs, just doing normal city driving. I have used the burp valve b4 and its gotten rid of the problem, but it always comes back. I checked the rad and it has water so thats fine. The overflow tank tends to fill up completely like it cant go anywhere else.

Signs off air in the system. The question you need to ask is how is it getting there.

I though you were running higher boost than 9psi?

I was running 11psi b4, but we turned it down till I can find someone to tune it correctly.

Good start, changing the rad.cap.Fans work, fluids ok.If the cap does not solve the problem, hello dealer. Over heats standing still--turn on the heater.Until you get it fixed I would drive with the heater on.Yes its hot on you,but you'll take a few, if not a lot of degrees off your engine. Were you running the A/C when it overheated?

you may want to upgrade your radiator while your at it and install a low temp thermostat.

well heres the thing thats weird also, I havent done it for while b/c of what happened. I had my a/c on and I turned it off one time and the temp sky rocketed up. So I havent turned my a/c off since that day. I have a nismo thermostat on the car. Im kind of worried about taking it to the dealer b/c theyre probs going to blame the turbo kit or something you know?
