Nissan News I heard today!!!
I was getting my oil changed today, and I was talking to the service rep. about performance and the 350Z and he was telling me he got a letter reciently from Nissan USA, that they will be making some sort of performance kit for the 350Z that will be offered by only the dealer that will boost the performance gains on the Z up to 350hp. He also said that the car will still retain your stock warrenty. I then asked him when, and he said to expect the kit to be around in 6 months or so. Then I asked him what the kit came with and he said something about a new ECU and a couple other things. He was not totally sure about it yet. Has anyone heard about this either?

I'm serious. I did ask to see the letter from the service rep, but he said he can't show it to me. He just told me to keep looking on the nissan website and eventually they will have the kit on there.

Good heads-up on asking to see the letter.

I hope what he told u was true.. but the amount of 'dealer rumors' I have heard in other situations with my past car is rediculous.. and practically none of them came to light. I hope this will be different...

This is BS because a 60+ HP gain can NOT be achieved on the 350Z without forced induction or Nitrous. No way.
I would VERY happy if an ECU gave me +23 HP (310 HP).

Most likely he is talking about the internal components similiar to that used in the nismo crate motor. You will eventually be able to buy a kit with such parts. As for the ECU that might be part of the package.

There is another sidebar in the March SCC magazine that talks about NISMO parts (it's 2 pages before the NISMO Garrett turbo article). It mentions NISMO availability in the spring or summer. Most parts are listed for on road use and have been tested in Arizona. It also lists some "off highway" parts such as cams, headers, and a flywheel. I'm guessing that means they either haven't undergone enough testing for street durability or else they don't want to emissions certify some of those parts individually.
