Hi, I'm new to Z's, and the 3.5 liter V-6. I was wondering if someone would explain the principles behind a grounding kit. How does it work? Thanks!

Look at the other thread started by insaneamine which gives info from a variety of people about grounding kits. I was skeptical and then I talked with two other Z owners at an autocross race. They had just installed the grounding kit and felt that it made a difference. Like any true follower, I bought one from insaneamine. I agree with redline that there is a difference at higher rpms. It certainly isn't a necessary addition but.....

Jamie, Andrew (rouxeny) installed grounding wires in his car and we instantly noticed that the engine felt smoother when shifting. Also, it seemed to be idling a little less than before the install. After driving his car and then getting in mine, I noticed that the engine in my car sounded a little rougher when shifting than his did.

If Andrew is free, he will be going to Nazar's meet. If you plan to be there you can check his out then.

Did you have to take the strut bar out? I noticed this bolt on the upper right hand corner of the engine cover that's directly below the strut bar. How did you guys reach that one

Default No, you DO NOT take the strut out!

The bolt clears under it. I used a long open-end wrench and when it gets loose, just slide to finger under and slide it out (uhh, sounds kinky!).

Don't drop it. Thats the worst that can happen during the install, to go chasing screws under the engine...
