As for going over 150mph in a car....I've done 165 on my R6....150 in a car is nothing.
I have no doubt the Z can handle 150mph well, I just don't have any desire to do it again

165 in an R6... now that's awesome I friend is selling his R6, I wish I could buy it, but alas, I have too many toys already

Hey Jason,

The Z is perfectly stable and balanced at 150MPH +. I had mine in several occasions to 155 and 156. I stopped before any governor kicked in, so it may not be there all-together, I don't know.

Whether or not the original post is BS is beyond me, but I wouldn't be surprised is it wasn't.

Don't underestimate the Z, it will run and handle with the best of them!!!

you could be right about the limiter, but perhaps Nissan accounts for speed errors so... cut off is not done on mph but on engine speed using revs at a certain currected speed . Like how theres a rev limiter on ever gear.

R6 165 huh.....I've read 192 on my 00 gixxer 750 ... but I know error was involved so if it was 10% i was going 172.8 mph. I was pinned in 6th for least 30 seconds... the 00 gixxer was speed king for 00 in Pure stock sport bikes.

I'm a bike freak more then a car freak....but I'm starting to get into cars cause of the new models we've got coming state side... WRX, RX-8, Lancer, Supra & the Z.... so far I like the Z best but I wished it had fog lights.

Limiters can be defeated... Computers can be confused... They are not perfect. I have done it in other cars before so I am sure if can be done in the Z... I have been up to 150 in the Z.. Amazingly stable.

My R6 was by no means "topped out" at 165 indicated...I just ran out of room. There's plenty of R6 guys who have hit 180 indicated which is probably right around 165. Then again...the speedo error on bike is done on purpose....they could make them accurate..but they don't, they want to make you "think" you're going faster than you are.

But bikes are NOT the subject of this post, and I was simply bringing it up as an example.

No doubt, you had more to go on the R6....motorcycles: pwr 2 weight ratio = Amazing speeds. Yeap this is off subject..

I have a question though about the Z. I know theres 4 sub catogories to purchase on the Z, and my question is can you mix it up a bit? Like if I want the base model with brembro brakes, but I dont want the other items....it that possible?

Hey, I've had my Z up to 154mph. I wanted to see if it would shut down at 156, but ran out of road and *****!! Would like to try again but hard to find a straight road in the Ozark's of Northwest Arkansas.

Your speedo might have read 165 but you were more than likely only doing about 145 mph see:

I am extremly amazed with this car, the handling is amazing at such high speeds and yes i am a dumba** but it seems everytime i say i will drive at a normal speed the car takes over and i find myself going REALLY fast but this car definitly does it for me my girlfriend has competion.
Driving your Z that fast on a public road is fairly stupid, when you can go just as fast, in a safe manner on a track. Check out www.nasanortheast.org for more information. As someone who shares rt. 287 with you, I'd appreciate it if you were a bit more considerate.

Thanks,

Read the article again...they used LIDAR guns....LIDAR is know for being inaccurate on cars...let along bikes. This is why LIDAR only has judicial notice in a few states...whereas RADAR has judicial notice in almost every state. Still...I'm willing to bet there is still a fair bit of error in on the bike speedo...but probably not 25mph+.

Guy at Nissan said it was governed at 165. Don't know if hes right or wrong; Havn't got to play yet.

About the only place I could imagine that there would be enough room is right outside of Flemmington, just before 202. It's the only place flat and straight enough not to kill yourself. The condition of the road anywhere else is usually pretty $hitty.
