162MPH and some!!!
I get my Z to 150 on a weekly basis, but last night i had it up to 162MPH and the thing was still pulling. I am extremly amazed with this car, the handling is amazing at such high speeds and yes i am a dumba** but it seems everytime i say i will drive at a normal speed the car takes over and i find myself going REALLY fast but this car definitly does it for me my girlfriend has competion.
Thats why i made this post, all i have is a injen intake and i thought the restriction was somewhere between 155-160 but i proved it wrong i looked at the digital gauge and it said 162mph and it was still pullin, it was me and my friend with his ford lighting racing on the highway, but that thing inpressed me with a speed thats over specs.

Im not one to think im cool for driving like a iddiot but it seemed like a good time to do it and 287 was the highway to do it on there wasnt a car on it. All im tryin to point out is that from what factory specs say is that it does 156 and my car went over that not tryin to say im faster than everyone cause ill be the first one to say that i had a integra before my Z and that thing was toooo slow but im just tryin to point out that these cars either arnt restricted at what they say or i just have a special factory ecu. I just dont want u guys to start hating on me for another reoson.
Guys relax a bit. He probably is telling the truth. However speedo error is a common problem... mostly about 5-10% speedo correction is needed. The faster you go the more error....so if he was reading 162 mph...10% error = 145.8 mph for instance... Hey the car had more to go!!! Sorry FlyinZ you may have thought you were going that fast but not really.
Try to top it out and - 10% on your mph reading next time and your'll probably be around Nissan spec.
Top speed readings are done using a radar gun or some trap speed device for accuret readings.

You could be right gixxerjoe im not even tryin to say i was doing exactly 162 but it sure was fast but then again for all i know i could have been doing 120 and the digital gauge could be off but it was sure up there and it definitly said 162, that car is amazing i have drivin a lot of cars and there isnt to many cars for the price that handle like the Z.

I had my maxima up to an "indicated" 146mph (she still had more...but I ran out of room)...and my Garmin GPS Calculated speed was 144.2mph. Usually a manufacturs cars all have the same amount of speedo error...Japanese cars are known for being VERY accurate. I will GPS the Z eventually...but I don't exactly go over 100mph on a "regular" basis.
BTW - Before we go calling BS on this guy....has anyone here actually HIT the supposed 156mph speed limiter?

The point is that a speed limited ECU doesn't let you go higher than a certain speed, no matter how is measures it. So if there is an error, it's not relevant. The car still wouldn't let you go that fast.
For example, let's say the car is limited at 150mph, but has a 10% error. When you hit 135mph the car would think you are doing 150 and wouldn't let you go any faster. It would certainly never SAY that you were doing 165.
Also, 10% error isn't very likely

I'm betting the Z is limited either by the end of 6th gear, or not enough high end power to overcome drag exhibited at 150+ mph

The Z is VERY composed and stable at high speed...arguably nearly as stable as a Ferrari. The Z has Zero lift...so it stays VERY planted.
As for going over 150mph in a car....I've done 165 on my R6....150 in a car is nothing.
