When i'm in say 4th and I let off the gas and shift to 3rd I can see my shifter vibrate considerably. Is this normal?

 

Shifter vibration is normal since it's hard-mounted to the tranny. It might be more noticeable when you're downshifting because of the load being put on the transmission.

 

Does it vibrate violently or just move to the right and then back to the left as the engine comes up to match the rpms? Because it is hard mounted to the drive train, it will do whatever the engine does, shaking, vibration and all.

Always rev match when down shifting. This will take care of it...
