I hate asking people to do things like that, but I'm very interested in the Flowmaster on the Z and would greatly appreciate it.

This is w/ the flowmaster set up. It sounds a lot better in person.

I'm 31 and I DON"T like it. welded it back the next day...don't like the raspy sound around 3000 rpm..

The MB didn't make any noise at all, but my 350Z been a sports car needed that extra sound, not extra noise, and for me the car w/o the resonator there is a better sound, not more noise. Believe me, as soon as there is an exhaust that gives me better performance per dollar, I'm there dude!...

I like the sound, but I like sound+performance better...
based off the research I did before, the gains were 3hp to 5hp. There are some post of 3-5 gains with just removing the presilencer. If you are going to get an intake system and an exhaust system, this is a great set up. I just got done installing my injen CAI (cold air intake), you can tell a good difference.
I'm 42 and I have driven my 350Z for almost three months with the resonator out. I like it, I like the extra sound; it was too quiet before.
I think a lot of the people who put it back in immediately and then bash the mod so harshly make one simple mistake. For some unknown reason, without the resonator the stock muffler gives a very raspy, crackly sound if you push it hard before it gets hot. If you start up the car and then rev it high a few times I can understand how you think it sounds like a riced-out Civic. However after about 20 seconds of driving, the ricy rasp goes away and you are left with a very satisfying exhaust note; instead of being too quiet it sounds like a true sports car. Since I have a lifetime habit of driving a car gently until it gets good and warm, this doesn't bother me at all.
Although I have never considered putting the resonator back in, I wish the sound was deeper, a little more rumbly. I am considering a Flowmaster 80.
