I beg to differ with your appreciation; granted this subject is very subjective, I think the car sounds better than ever. Furthermore, inside the car, you can barely tell the difference, but from the outside, it sounds like a real sports car should!

It does not sound like a ricer! Most 4 bangers with a loud exhaust sound loud, yet weak, as you can tell they lack torque (guts). The Z sounds raspy, but so do Ferraris and no one is complaining. The Z sounds really torquey and mean, and that’s what I like the most!!!

Just my appreciation!!!

silencer? not quite accurate, it is a "resonator" meaning something that is meant to tune the exhaust note, not silence it.

I agree with Redline350's comments. I removed my resonator last week and I definitely love it. In fact, I find myself driving with the window down and stereo off just so that I can listen to the exhaust. It sounds just right.

Some of you might want to sit outside and hear the car as it speeds away, it sounds like A$$. You may not tell the difference from the inside but believe me from the outside it sounds like one of those civics with coffee cans.

Thanks Brad, I usually leave judgements and matters of taste to people to make a decision but I am sorry some of these people are not being realistic, it is not a subjective determination, they just have to listen as someone revs up and speeds away, trust me I heard it and there was no hesitation in my judgement it was an immediate dislike and I wasn't alone. Laugh some more.

I liked once I removed mine. I thought it sounded a lot better, and I did hear it from outside w/ someone else driving away. I didn't care the stock exhaust at first, then right before I removed my PRESILENCER/resonator, I was having doubts of actually going through w/ the removal. If I were to choose between stock or the removal, I would choose removal. But the bang for the buck as far sound goes, is the flowmaster 80 series, it sounds so much better then both. All my freinds love the sound of it. If anyone wants an aggressive deep sounding exhaust, I would check into doing the flowmaster mod. I am adding my Injen intake tomorrow, i will let you guys know how the combo sounds.

In the upper rpms it's just very raspy and sounds like you just cut the muffler off without replacing it with anything. It DOES NOT give the car a deeper note. It just makes it sound like a$$. Save yourself the $$$$. They charged me 35 to take it off and 35 to put it back on. It was that bad; I didn't even want to drive it a couple of days. TERRIBLE!!!!!!

You should of tried it out before you put it back on.

I'm yet to discern what an a$$ sounds like , but it is hard to believe that my car can sound like one

If any of you is expecting the Z to have an American V8 or a Ferrari like sound, you're wasting your time!!!

I agree, the 350Z will always sound like a V6 because its a V6!!
I respectfully dissagree with the argument that it sounds like a civic or anything like it. Maybe my ears are a little bit more receptive compared to other fellow members, but I am possitive that there is NO WAY the 350Z W/O the resonator sounds like a 4 cyl...

Well I'm 29 and before my 350Z I had a Mercedes Benz C230 2002. I sold it because I needed a sports car; I got bored in the MB. I can assure you, I don't like cars that make too much noise. The MB didn't make any noise at all, but my 350Z been a sports car needed that extra sound, not extra noise, and for me the car w/o the resonator there is a better sound, not more noise. Believe me, as soon as there is an exhaust that gives me better performance per dollar, I'm there dude!...

Well I am 39 and don't like it, on my other car, a V6, I have installed a Borla and gives it a deep growl almost like a small block V8 and it is a little louder but I like that one, the non/resonator sound is just too raspy and higher pitch.

I'm 40 and I agree with Javi. My current other car is a BMW 740iL and it bores the heck out of me. And just like most of the sentiments the Z needed a little extra "sound". In the future TT or SC, dual cat back exhaust system will come into play, but for the time being you can't beat the bang for the buck and I'm happier w/o the resonator.

Is there any chance you have a sound recording of the Flowmaster? If you don't, would you be willing to if you are able to record?

I hate asking people to do things like that, but I'm very interested in the Flowmaster on the Z and would greatly appreciate it.

Here's a link to a thread about flowmasters.

There are many others out there.

I'm 24 and I dig it!!!

other cars we're:
-Supercharged ls/vtec 00'GSR Integra w/ Tanabe Full 2 1/2 exhaust(header as well)
-02' RSX-S w/ Skunk2 exhaust!!!

Got tired of it on my GSR but had to have it being Supercharged and all!!!

But Skunk2 sounded great--not too loud and real low and its a 4 Banger

Outside the Z sounds alittle high pitched but sound exotic--inside i swear it sounds like a slightly Louder then Stock TT Supra to me!!!
