Default Question about manual transmissions(newbie here)

Ok i am a newb when it comes to driving manual trannys so take it easy on me. I just picked up a new 06 last tuesday and have been learning how to drive it all week since this is my first manual car. I have driven other 5 speed four cylinders before but i seem to be having trouble w/ this one. I can't seem to get the damn thing to start off in first smooth without getting any noise from the transmission. It seems if i let off to slowly that i gett a chattering noise coming from the tranny and if i let off too quickly the car jerks alot. Am i damaging the clutch from this or have i already done damage to it? I got paranoid last night since i just noticed it last night since it was the first time i drove w/ the windows down and the music off. Is it normal for manuals to make this type of tranny noise? Just i side note i have dumped the clutch twice from a stop at 3k rpm(against my better judgement). I just want to make sure i don't f### up a brand new car!

Thanks
Chris
