I can't believe all the worthless comments I am getting in this tread. I thought the 350z crowd had a more mature following. I guess a forum is a forum these days. No offense to the ones who have had constructive comments or positive feedback.

You need a standalone. You can't use an OEM ECU with another motor.

Things like this NEVER go to plan. I would expect to have to pay more than $30k. I mean, aren't you going to have to custom build the tranny? I can't imagine a Toyota Supra tranny bolts directly to a Z frame.

I wish you luck on the endeavour.

I dont think it'll be cost effective. But im sure that would be one sick as Z i would ask for a ride in. Its his money, its seems he knows what hes doing, so why not?

I think this is an awsome idea. Way to think outside the box. I wish I could give you some advice, but I can't. Hope you pull it off so I can see the final product.

That is car, engine, tranny, electronics, tuning, labor....
I am not talking about $30k for the swap portion on top of the cars cost.
For 30K u could buy a decent used Supra and like magic, your 2jz swap is complete.

It will give you elite ricer status at HIN but I think all the built VQ TT guys will still be more cost effective, faster, and more reliable.

I would rather have an LS1 motor in my Z but the Supra is a ricer dream isn't it.

I don't think many people that own 350z's should be considered "ricers"

Heres that term rice again. It is used on all levels like JDM. All the domestic guys consider any japenese vehicle rice. That is why I found it odd to be thrown around a 350Z forum so much.

This whole thread is nothing more than HIN elite ricer fantasy. Here's what I consider rice and this is just my opinion sticker sponsorship, 10 monitors everywhere, Nitrous and turbo, and dropped to the ground scraping.

If you have the know how and the ability to do this swap, just do it. The best way to shut the holes of all the doubters on the board is to just do it. I've seen MUCH crazier things, including a 2JZ-GTE and RWD in a Probe, or an LS1 and an FD RX-7 rear end in a Probe. It is totally do-able. I won't comment on whether it is worth it or not, because this project is probably not simply for max performance, it is to do something different. I hope anyway.

Anyway, if you CAN do it, just do it. And post up lots of pics and videos when it is done.

Okay, guys how much is the turbo kit for the Z and how much power does the stock VQ produce? How much is 2jz with 6speed cost, and how much does the stock 2jz can push?

2jz can easily handles over 500hp with stock internal, but VQ needs to build the internal to start handles over 400hp-600hp without engine failure.

To build to VQ requires about at less 3-4k for the internal parts labor not included, how much is the labor you guys tell me, new turbo kit cost at less 5k.

When we can drop the 2jz in Z for around 8-9k labor included, and work on the single turbo.

there is no Nissan 350Z with a build VQ engine that will keep up with the build 2jz they are making today.

from my perspective

2jz > rb26, the more displacement the better.

from the vq35, its not as bulletproof as the 2jz, open deck, aluminum, etc.

my opinion, ls1/2/6 swap that bitchh
