Wonder if the set-up will fit under the '03-'06 Z hood with little trouble? I think I'd rather just do a swap than trade for a new car and start all the appearance modding again...

Probably will fit under the hood, maybe the hood was just a change to distinguish the HRs from the old.

Is this engine supposed to be that much better than our current one? I mean you might get more power off the bat but then you have to wait for FI kits for it. ITB's would've been hot for this engine!

Also FI might be alot harder with the new 10:6:1 CR. We just have to wait and see...

You'll probably be able to squeeze a few HP out of the new motor with tuning.

Hmmm...retro fit the DTB's to the current VQ?

I can see that happening! Crawford Z tried but maybe now someone else can make it work.

I like this thread, as i am buying my self a Z. I wrecked my 04 330ci and all most bought a 06 350z until some one from this thread told me to look into the more revised 350z. I made this mistake before and bought the non zhp 330ci bmw. I think this time i will waite and get it. I know its a new motor but its japanise, i mean my BMW was at the dealer ship every 4-5 months for something major lol. I honestly didnt care i loved my car and i think i will like this one too.

How will they work with the ECU though?

My cousin and I just went over to Oakland Infiniti and test drove the '07 G35S and wow is the engine seamless (it's an auto). In short, the engine has noticeably a hint of that extra hp, but the most impressive part is how seamless the gear changing transitions were. It's nearly undetectable if you weren't expecting them. It's like you're driving ONE whole big gear. It also feels as though the engine has been smoothed out, as if it weren't already smooth enough in its power delivery.

Assuming that the tuning of that same engine is just slightly more aggressive for the '07 Z, I think the new '07 owners will be happy w/ the engine revisions, esp the auto ones.

I don't think I'm going to go through with this mod. After searching and inquiring about it further, it seems like too much trouble and wasted money. Would've been nice to try and see how the OEM HR headers would effect the DE engine.

I haven't found anyone who's done the actual swap for the heck of it to discover if there were any gains. Just info on how much it would cost for <5 HP at best. I'm starting to think its a moot point

To use HR headers, you need to use HR cats as well b/c the flanges are different. The HR headers are more efficient than the DE ones as well.
