I may have jumped the gun before doing my research and bought an '06 diff. I didn't realize until after I paid that it may not work in my '03. I've searched a bit, but couldn't find any answers.
Does anybody know for sure?

I've been checking out my service manual. It is very easy to R&R the companion flange. It's a simple matter of removing the prop shaft, pinion nut, then the companion flange.
Maybe this won't be such a problem.

You'll need an impact gun to get the pinion nut loose. I had to change the companion flange on my swapped out pumkin too, I think there's an oil seal that should be replaced when you take the companion flange off. Technosquare did the flange change out and swapped the pumpkins for me. You're doing a 3.5 vLSD?

Yep. Well, hopefully it's an LSD I'm getting. I know, I should know for certain, but for the price I got it for, I'll swap my LSD into it if need be. The seller stated that it's from an enthusiast, but it's not an LSD. I hope he's wrong about the LSD part.
Anyway, was there anything else you (or rather, the shop) needed to do besides swap the companion flange and replace the front oil seal and pinion nut?

I just ordered a new companion flange and front oil seal, if you're looking in the service manual the next component would be the pinion front bearing which was not changed. After the flange it was pretty straight forward, they changed the fluids but no other hiccups.

Good, that eases my mind quite a bit. I'll just take off my stock companion flange and put it on the new diff. I'll order a new seal and bolt and I should be able to borrow the special tools from Auto Zone.
