Default Pop clutch and exhaust pops?

For the first time I don't know the best place to post something...but here it is. I was driving my Z through a parking lot the other night to meet up with a couple people, it was kinda dark so as I was coming up to them I shut off my lights and turned my car off to try and sneak up on them. Well they saw me so I just popped the clutch to start the car again. Ok, well I leave the car on after I pull up because we're gonna leave in a few anyway, when we leave I notice something weird...everytime I shift or just let off the gas my exhaust pops like a damn SRT-4. I'm like wtf? So I was tryin to figure it out and finally did, if I pop the clutch to start the car it does this until I turn off and start the car again normally. I've talked about it with some friends that said some cars they've had before would do this...anybody know why this is or what exactly is causing it? It's puzzling to say the least.

I can't figure it out either. Wired said before that it could be fuel burning up in the exhaust. However, i noticed that this happens even when the car is cold.

pop the clutch means to drop the clutch while the car is moving and in gear

Hmm, maybe you're running too rich. Any new mods?

Nope... So we're talking about something like push starting?

I agree with krnlikewh0a, maybe doing this has caused the ECU to run richer than normal since it would make sense that the engine floods a little if you do it this way.

owners manual says DO NOT PUSH or drop the clutch to start. humm this might be the reason. also i think the engine has to turn over so many time to set the ecu before the car starts

That's what I was thinking, that starting the car like that messes up the ECU and causes it to run rich. It sounds pretty damn cool though. haha
