i should mention that it may have been due to them leaving the cap off (i know i lost some oil) but i just cant see me losing as much oil as i know i did.. i hope not..

Could be. The part number ending with 9 did come up on the Nissan parts lookup though. Beats me. I really need to get to the bottom of all this. I'll figure this out at some point.

It may be that someone needs to actually tear one apart and compare it to a v1.

Anyways, my receipt says:

10102-AC7MZ ENGINE BARE

Invoice Date is 5/18/2007

I have 10102-AC7MZ ENGINE BARE too.

Yes. I would not deal with that much oil loss.

Thanks. I just called them and told them they are going to have to prove that my engine has different internal parts than my original as that was the deal to allow the final repair attempt. We'll see next week.

My dealership's mechanic told me that National Nissan was keeping what they changed inside topsecret. And even he didn't know what they changed on the engine. There was a mechanic specialist from NNA to assist in the installation.

The pinging noise is very faint in this engine. My last engine it sounded like the valves were pinging, this one I think I hear it pinging, but its very very faint, it could be mechanical in the throttle. I just know this was a problem because a few others ont his board had the same symptons.

If you start out in 2nd or 3rd gear you should hear a pinging, thats what I had all the time. It was ridiculous. In addition to burning 1 qt at 800miles.

I just hope this new engine is solution to our problem.

That is a lot of burning. At some point Nissan will have to come forward because if they refuse I am continuing the process with the BBB and stating that they did not deliver the fix promised.

If this engine did not burn any oil, I would not be concerned, but we are starting to see these replacements burn oil also.

Default Aussie engine the same

Hi guys

Jim here from sydney australia. I have posted here before and giot great help form all of you out there.

Just like you guys nissan australia finally changed my engine and yep part number is 10102AC7MZ just like you guys.

Mechanics who replaced my engine told me that problem with the oil consumption was caused by piston rings. He reckons they were placing ceramic rings on the bottom of the piston which was causing piston chamber to be polished and creating a gap between rings and walls causing oil to pass through. Havent explained it very well and my mechanical knowledge is poor but thats the explaination he gave me. Not saying I believe the bloke but will just wait to see if my oil consumption issues continue with this new engine.

Interesting to note that nissan australia kept on telling me that there were no other cases in australia but when my car was being done there were 2 others in the workshop also having engines replaced!!!!

Good luck to all, will let you know anything further from here in sunny sydney.

My non rev up 2003 G35 is also consuming oil. I'm losing about 1 quart every 1000 miles. Break-in was easy on the engine. I also have an oil catch can, but it doesn't come close to accounting for the amount of loss. I called the local dealership, and they said to take it in. I'll prob start my procedure in the next 2 weeks.

Now I am scared to give this part number to my mechanic. There seems to be some doubt as to whether we are actually getting V2 engines with revised pistons/rings. I would hope that is the case, as many other than dbasal have seen success with the recent engines. After the run around my mechanic got that was outlined in my earlier posts, it just seems NNA is content to give us smoke and mirrors.............. keep us off balance and maybe this fiasco won't cost them a fortune. I wonder how much it will cost them when someone's engine locks up in traffic from no oil and a fatality occurs? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

yah and the sad part is theyll probably try to blame it on driver/owner's poor maintenance skills or soemthing.

They'll send everyone an updated manual stating the owner must top off the oil every day.
