Default Clutch

sorry guys if i didnt search hard enough but i need answers quick, they are putting back the engine tomorrow.

my car is at the dealer right now getting a new engine due to oil consumption. Now the dealer just called me and told me that my clutch is toast.. not sure how bad but i do the second gear w/ e-brake test every now and then, car stalls everytime. I do hear a weird noise when the car is cold, like a sliping sound when playing on the clutch (not on gear).

anyway, my question is how much is stock clutch? dealers says it is $320 and they wont be charging any labor since they are working on the engine. also how much is the nismo clutch?

second thing, is it possible they are lying to me? and i dont really need a new clutch.

oh well.. if i dont get anything maybe i can stop by tomorrow at the dealer.

Thank You all in advance!

Always give milage when askin questions like that. But , Myself , If I was there already ,Id replace the clutch no matter what ---Hell, its all apart, may as well --Thats not squanderous , just good sense. Its like replacin the motor and using the old plugs and Belts. Thats not a half bad price, but as long as the labor is free ----Time to upgrade. Good luck !!

I wouldnt make a habit out of that. If you know what you're looking for you can determine the basic health of a clutch from simply driving the car. My Z is going on 3 years and I've never stalled it once. 60k with 50k coming from a previous owner.... it would not surprise me if your clutch needs replaced even if it has previously passed your "test". It would suck to not replace the clutch, and then a few months later need a clutch job.... labor on that isn't cheap. Do it while it's out or you'll regret it later.

stock clutch should not be over 250. you can easily find prices on any nissan site ( performance nissan, nissanpartspro) or by calling a dealership.

250. I got my parts for 24x.xx

Yeah my dealer charged me 250 but I got a new one put in when I had my tranny replaced under warranty = no labor charge.

Otherwise my guy said it'd be closer to $500.

Ask to see the old clutch plate after it is replaced.

How much is a OEM clutch? How much is a NISMO clutch. I think that the parts department will know don't you.

that's what i thought.. but unfortunately getting a new clutch from someone else other than them is just too inconvenient for my schedule and theirs, i dont want my car to sit at the dealer for too long. I guess i'll just assume that i paid $70 for the labor. Besides they are nice enough to build my oil consumption case with NNA unlike other dealers that let you do all the work with NNA.

70 bucks is still better than 420 which is what my dealer charge for labor on clutch replacement.

? I got my clutch from the dealer (R Nissan) who charged me 24x.xx and installed for free with act flywheel when they replaced my tranny two weeks ago. no labor, if your engine was out I don't know why they would charge you... should be easy.
