Default JWT clutch/flywheel or 3.9 gears: best bang for the buck?

Like the title says... both are on my list of eventual mods and would be about the same price, so which should I get first for my NA car? I already have plenum, pulley, intake and exhaust.

I'd say it would depend on your goals especially since you bring up the 3.9. But the flywheel gets my nod.

If you have a REVUP, I would say 3.9 gearing. If you have a 287 I would say clutch/fly. Mainly because the 3.9 gearing will keep you in the upper rpm's and with the 287's your peak power isn't at redline so you might not benefit as much compared to a REVUP. Just get a Tilton and call it a day.

Tilton is a awesome fast reving package, the street version is ok to drive but if you get it dont make a mistake by getting the Rally which is very hard to daily drive...BTW if you plan to stay N/A you'll probably end up with both mods but you'll prob feel the flywheel effects more.

Is the Tilton that much different from the JWT? I want it to be very streetable and easy to drive around town.

Would I still want the JWT cutch if I got the Tilton flywheel?

Also, which one is quieter? I don't mind some noise, but the "cement mixer" comments have me a bit worried...

My car is non-rev-up and I already have plenum mod, UR pulley, popcharger and Nismo exhaust. No tune yet, but I'll prob do TS reflash at some point.

Stock is 28Lbs---JWT is 14 and tilton is fair amount less----JWT is quiet IMO-----Noise is generally due to poor shift points----U loose weight,U loose inertia---U simply upshift and downshift at different RPMs to componsate

Takes 30 minutes to get used to for someone with manual experience. Personally, mine, I installed it and just drove with no getting used to it. Its very much a daily driver. As with a stock ,u MUST start in first. ( I mention this cuz there has been an influx of noobs starting in second!!!! ) With the JWT u just give the throttle a "blip" and disingage as the RPMs drop.
Some, worry themselves to death with shifting and clutching, just drive and have fun

tilton is a whole different ball game from the JWT... it'll rev way faster, but also be 2x hard to drive. You will learn to dread rush hour or trying to do small parking lot maneuvers etc with a tilton

In my opinion the 3.9 gears are hands down the single best bank for the buck mod for the NA Z. Although your overall goals should factor in to your decision as a combination of other mods may be better for what you are trying to accomplish.

I have both the gears and the clutch and flywheel, (I have the Nismo clutch and flywheel). I almost went with the JWTs and I have heard good things about them.

the JWT will make your car accellerate as if it was 100 lbs lighter. Shifts will also be quicker since the engine will be able to drop the the next gear's target rpms quicker

the 3.9 on the other hand will make the car accellerate like it is about 200 lbs lighter and give you slightly worse gas mileage on the highway. It also won't have any effect on drivability, but cost a little more money to do

UR flywheel and JWT or Centerforce clutch.

UR does not have as much chatter.

The 3.9 is a great mod too if you are going to get a Vortech or ST.

Just do both and then you won't have to decide.
