Default Motul oil

Who here uses Motul oil in their Z? I'm thinking of getting some, mostly because from what I have read, it prevents metal-to-metal contact on cold start-up, which is where most engine wear occurs. Does anyone think the Motul is not worth the money?

Motul 8100 is like a step up from Mobil 1...

Motul 300V is pure racing oil.... if you are running FI or race, this is what you want to use...

Hello Jason,

How often you have to change the oil (Motul 300V) on a Z equiped with APS TT.

Thx!

I used Royal Purple before, started having oil consumption issues. Switched to Motul 8100 5w40. BAM, oil consumption issue gone.

Check the Oil Anmalysis sticky at the top of this forum. Motul 8100 and 300V have UOA's submitted. So do several weigths of RP. Neither is worth the money.

^^ Yep, per that thread, I've been using Castrol GTX 5w30 dino oil or Amsoil 0w30 synth with very good results... Thanks to Will for his hard work putting that sticky together for us! :-)

resolute, which amsoil do you think would be best for fi? I'm running 0w30 right now on stock block but will be building soon and running a little more boost so not sure if the 0w30 is up to the task as it may be a little thin.

Try stepping up a grade. Their 5W-40 might be a good fit for you.

Motul 8100 on my 07 HR motor. Switched after 6000 miles on cheapest dino oil. Engine is really feeling better after 1500 miles on the Motul.

Actually RP is one of the worst. Especially in the VQ. On the lab tests it has shown to have more wear.

If you want the best, you go Amsoil, Redline, or Motul. If you must go to a store bought oil, Penzoil Plat, or Mobil 1.

You beat me to it, obviously this guy has no idea what he is talking about by suggesting RP for the VQ, it is the worst oil for OUR engines!
Do some research before reccomending!

P.S.

I use the Amsoil 0W30, Mobil 1 0W40 and German Castrol 0W30 when I can find it.
I do use Motul but I mix it, the 300V is a racing oil and has almost no cleamers or stabilizers for street use by itself, but mixed with Amsoil or Mobil 1 it works great!

ya i had royal purple and I HATED IT!!!!!!!!!! you seriously can smell the oil burning! as soon as i switched to pensoil platnum everything got better!

even after a 2300 mile period the royal purple was black and chunky! with alonst a quart gone! but pensoil platnum is my favorite i have tride everything exept amsoil! you can get 5 qts of pensoil platnum for 19.99 at wallmart!!! cant beat that and it is my favorite oil after all my changes!

Quad stated that 300V had bad results in oil analysis tests. Higher levels of many metals meaning more wear on engine parts.

I am thinking of just using Mobil 1 0w40 from now on. Seems as though ester based oils like Redline and Motul are not good on a street car.
