New Stillen Short Shifter Review
Well, I got around to purchasing Stillen's new short shifter for my 350Z and installed it last night. I've been very unhappy with the short shifter kits that have been out for our cars, and never really recomended them because of rattling noise issues, notchiness, and the like.
Well, I was skeptical about this one too, so I wanted to test it out before offering it to my customers for sale. Install was easy, but you do need to purchase a new shifter cup for this shifter, as it does not come with anything like the B and M one does. All you get with this one is the shifter stick. If you try to remove your existing white shifter cup, it will more than likely break, it's pretty rigid plastic, so i just spend the few bucks for the new one. Also, you'll need bearing grease to lube up the shifter ball portion and the cup to prevent notchiness and such. It might be hard to press the cup onto the shifter but i figured out a way to do it which ended up to be pretty simple.
ok, now, once installed, the car shifted nice and smooth, better than MY oem setup. now i emphasize this, because when i removed mine, all the grease was a tad dirty, and gritty, and the oem shifter moved in the pocked rough, so it was better than MY particular oem. In all honesty i do feel it to actually be a bit smoother than OEM. The throws are shorter, you DO notice, but they're not rediculously short either. I can shift through the gears much faster and easier now. As for rattling, there is none coming from the shifter itself like there is with most B and M's . All in all, I am happy with this setup, and I'm now highly recomending this setup to anyone looking for a shifter.
I've tried rogue, B and M, etc.. and none were this nice and simple
If anyone is interested PM me for our pricing, and if you're local and want to check it out on my car, just PM me ahead of time so i know to bring my car into work
