Default 6-puck hard on the tranny?

Anyone blew a gear because of a 6-puck clutch? I hear the are hard on trannies and wanted to know if the 6-speed tranny is strong enough to safely handle it.

I race a lot but am keeping it NA.

Tranny should hold fine. There was a teardown comparison recently of a 6mt and a Getrag tranny. The stock Nissan tranny was shown to be just as "beefy" as the nice Getrag.

so long as the 6 puck clutch has a sprung hub, you should be fine

any solid hub clutch though is going to transfer ALOT more vibration and overall "shock" to the drivetrain, and over time, that can lead to premature wear or failure.

I had a 6 puck ceramic/bronze with a sprung hub in my AWD Talon. Held up well and that tranny is known for being week. Not too comfortable to drive with but not terrible. I went through a company called "clutchnet", excellent quality. They are in el monte, CA i believe.

You should be fine... The first thing to break will be the rear diff cover... Atleast that is what happend to me! HAH!

Anyway, What is the clamping force on the clutch? I had a Cerametallic Clutch Twin Disc Solid Hub clutch that could hold 690TQ to the Crank and trans was fine for over 50K miles (used 2 or 3 clutches over the time)... Loved it though thats for sure!

Yes the clutch is sprung hub. Thanks for the answers. My trans is a 2005 and im not sure which revision it is. It has to be one of the more recent revisions though, since its a 05.

If its an 05 its going to have a CD009 Trans which is the most recent... Any other changes to the drivetrain were related to the pressure plate and disc...
