Question A seemingly obvious engine mod

why has no one even considered to bore out the cylinders(and other such engine mods)? it is pricy I know and requires lotsa expertise but I am surprised nobody has done it yet. Is there a company or shop anywhere that would do something like this? I know Lingenfelter has been doing it for years on vettes and vipers but has anyone done it on any Z?

Makes sense: increased displacement -> increased HP -> Shoot the fuel economy to s***.

Really sickening example(look at 0-60 and 1/4 times..damn!):

the engine is technically already bored out, it was a 3.0liter, modified to be a 3.5liter.

with that said, I think its probably cause increasing displacment to what? maybe 3.8 liter? would require a lot of custom work, including pistons and what not, and wiating for the turbo is more cost efficient.

as long as your going to kill your warrenty on a brand new car with atleast 4 years to go on the engine warrenty, may as well make it worth while.

You could also shorten the stroke to increase displacement, that way you can increase the motors potential with a turbo. Tons of power!

Shorten stroke = more displacement :confused)?!?!?!

not without an overbore

Don't you mean lengthen the stroke

Wouldn't that in actuality just be lowering the compression ratio thus making it better suited for turbo applications.

Ben, my bad your right.

What I was try to say is that increases cylinder volume when piston is at top position allowing more air/fuel into cylinders for turbo apps.

Allowing more air/fule but potentially lowering cylinder pressure

Remember, higher compression motor will always makem ore power than an equivalent motor with lower CR

They just tend to make it harder to hold it all together
