Default Someone HELP me out! Ahhh!!!!

hey guys
okay so heres the deal....im transferring schools in the fall and i know its only March....but my parents told me that if im going away to school in the fall....that mean i have to sell my Z ....i put alot of money into the car and i really dont want to get rid of it but i guess i have to...i actually had plans on buying more parts for my Z. What i have now is HKS Hi-power exhaust, Volks te37's gold, Nismo spoiler, AEM intake,...i have a 5/16th iso spacer sitting in my room thinking about getting it installed...but i dont know if i should just sell it instead of installing it in my Z?...should i just buy the rest of my parts and enjoy the Z? or keep it the way it is? or sell all the parts now? what should i do? im really lost and i need advice... but if i get rid of the Z i would probably get a Jeep or honda CR-V as for transportation for school...until i graduate....and then probably back to a Z or something...maybe a Vette...all i know is that once i graduate i will have a sports car again...but i dont know...its not 100% certain...what would you guys do if you were in my shoes?
thanks....MFA

Sell the parts, sell the car, go to school, get a good job, make a lot of money, buy a porsche.

Edit: Then I would make sure I post in the right forums of the next car forum I join.

Yeah schooling will definitely help you out...as you can see from my example, you will not be getting the porsche until AFTER your done with school.

Sounds like you know what you want to do. Don't let a $30K car hold you up in anyway possible.

Well you could just garage it and take it off your insurance and enjoy it once in a while when you are home. But I guess the smartest thing to do would be to sell it, but its your car so do whatever you think is the best.

why do you have to sell it? i dont understand. you need to sell it to get back and forth from where? where are transferring?

lived in jersey all my life, went to college in Trenton and had the Z pretty much all 4 years i was there and never had a problem. There's alot of different factors i guess but i made it work without a problem.

oh and dibs on the parts if your selling, and im local..lol

Financially speaking, you will always do better putting the stock parts back on before selling. This is for several reasons:

1) A modified car is generally more difficult to sell than a totally stock car. Just make sure you don't tell the potential buyer that it's been modded, unless a mod has caused a permanent effect, good or bad, to the car.

2) A lightly modified car (not a nice TT setup or something similar) will usually not sell for any considerable amount more than what it would sell for stock. You certainly will not get back the value of the used parts.

3) Ties in with #2: You will get more money selling the aftermarket parts individually than you would probably get by keeping them on the car.

Please bear in mind that these are just generalizations based on experience. You might luck up and find somebody that was planning on getting the same mods already on it and are willing to pay a bit more than what it would cost them stock, but the perceived value of the modded car as a whole is usually not as great as the car with the parts separately. Plus it will be far easier for you to sell an unmodified car - most people don't mod their cars anyway and have no interest or knowledge of what a lot of us on the boards to.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

well my grandmother got it for me before she passed away as a highschool/passing away present for me...but its mine but i also live under my parents roof and i have to respect them especially with the decisions/opinion they make...since they are paying for me to go to school...im going to school at Rowan U. and its right near Camdem...so go figure...im taking my pride and joy their esp. for jealous people to damage my z...my parents figured it wass best to get a truck...more room to transport stuff etc...and whatnot...and it would be pointless to have a Z sitting home when no one can take it out and drive it....
