Default Clutch problem?

hey guys, i was driving yesterday with my gf and i had it into first gear, at a light and launched the car at like, 3k rpms. after a couple seconds the gear just gave out. like it was in neutral or something. is this a sign of the clutch slipping? its never really happened before.

i hope it is so i can get a new one before my warranty expires hah.

i have an 04 track, doesnt the track have a performance clutch compared to the base?

i just dont want the dealer getting away with giving me a base clutch. (unless theyre all the same)

it wasnt a little launch that you were doing. it was significant enough to boil the fluid in the actual transmission. this would cause it to stay engaged (slipping). and im assuming that after a few minutes it came back and drove fine correct?

try a high temp fluid such as motul. you should be okay. how many miles are on the car?

Clutches & flywheels are the same in all models thru '06 (not knowledgable on the '07 yet)......I'm thinking you popped your shifter out of gear with all the G-force a 3k launch gives you .

As far as boiling your fluid.....no way that will boil your TRANNY fluid - it could boil your CLUTCH fluid, tho - did it to mine several times before I installed the kevlar-coated clutchline & hi-temp Motul fluid.

maybe the force of the car did push it back, cuz i take my hand off of it when i launch it.

but theres never been any sign of slip any other time. so it was prolly just that.
but i want my clutch to break so i can start fresh with a new one, cuz i dont know if the owner before me used it hard or not.

aright thanks guys, looks like im safe.
