2006 Oil Consumption Question
I don't know how much a quart is but I can tell you that my car (06) was using a lot of oil before it was written off, infact the day I wrote it off I was going back to the dealer for them to do the consumption test.
Put it this way, in 4500 miles it had used in excess of 3 litres of oil. That worried me.

2006 6/mt with 19k on the odometer and i'm just starting to notice the cosumption. I can't believe i havent been noticing this before.

im now hearing a really loud rattling noise coming straight from the engine. I seriously hope it isnt knocking.

I checked my oil this morning and it looks like its down about 1/5 from the H mark. Is that anything to be concerned about? I hope people with oil consumption problems chime in. Other than this concern, the car is doing great. Thanks so much.
1/5 qt in 1400 miles is not a problem.
CoAsTeR. You do NOT have a problem.
I think we concluded that the distance from full to add was 1 qt. Look at Motor Trend's long term test reports and you will see that some cars consumed 1 to 2 qts. Yes, I agree that most cars can go between 3k mile oil changes without adding oil- mine do- but I don't drive them hard often and at 3k miles I might be close to a qt low. Not many are going to get a engine or car replaced for consuming less than 1qt per K. What car burns no oil. The oil that lubs the cylinders is lost to combustion.

Okay, even given every word you just wrote, how does that give you the ability to conclude without a doubt that he does not have a problem. Stop giving blind and bad advice. That's what the service advisors are for...
