Paddle Shifters...
Anyone have information about the possibility of this working on a Z? I would think it would only help at the track....just down about the feasibility of doing this mod. Not sure if this is the right forum but it was the best fit I could figure....any help would be great!

If you have any auto there is a kit to convert the "autostick" into paddle shifters on the wheel. Looks like Rice crap to me, but to each his own. If you mean to convert a manual to a SMG, major investment and not IMHO feasible for daily driver at all. Likely costs would be over 10g's, and that's probably under estimating as well.

Okay, so I have a Z with over 500whp and I track the car, I am looking at making this strictly a track car....that is why I am trying to find out more information on this subject. Any informaion would be great!

Yes sir, just not with the z yet. Good luck with those paddle shifters

Okay, so I get that you guys think there is nothing to be gained from doing this, but I do not understand how you come to that conclusion....maybe for the money the gains arent enough, I was just trying to fins out more information. That is what this forum is for right?
I would love a lambo, but that is a bit out of my price range.....someday though!

These guys are knuckleheads lol. I've never seen anyone swap an SMG or DSG tranny into a Z. You are probably going to have to call a lot of places before you can find someone who will make a custom adapter etc. or install one in your car, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. I have seen 6 speed sequential trannys for the 350z app and if I recall correctly they were about 5 or 6k. I would personally go with a sequential if I was going for a super track car. I don't see why you couldn't street a sequential tho, I would

So is your car a stick now? I'm confused with what you are going after.
I built and installed a custom paddle shift control sytem for a turbo'd Cadillac a while back, but it wouldn't work with the Z based on the transmission controller that the Z uses is far more complicated then the Caddy tranny controller.

Knuckleheads...
Here's a video of a rally converted SMG Z. I assume that this is what you want...

Here's a link to a psuedo-conversion part. With this kit you still need to use the clutch, which IMHO makes it not worthwhile.

There is also a better video out on 350-tech that shows a fully converted SMG rally style shifter. If I remember correctly the total cost was very significant...
If you're really looking for track only performance, and cost isn't an option it's do-able. I'm sure it could be street driven without major issues, however what's the point?

Yeah I do...and it sounds to me like the only way to do this is with the auto...or waaaaay too much cash. I do not know that much about transmissions so I thought I would ask. I still think it would be killer to do this, but sounds unrealistic after all the input!
