Default Axle click is back?

I have an 03, and when I'm driving down the road and there is a wall or trees I can hear a clicking noise from my passenger side rear wheel. The first thing that came to mind was the axle click and the TSB, but the original owner has paper work stating that this was done at 12k miles. Is this a reoccurring problem or should it have been fixed the first time? The brake pads are newish, so it shouldn't be from that. I have new brakes/lines/pads going on saturday so I guess we'll see if it's anything brake related. The only other thing I could think was wheel bearing, but those growl and don't tick right? Sometimes when I come to a stop there's a really loud grinding from the rear, but I attributed that to cheapo autozone semi-metallic brake pads I put on until my hawks came in.

It says it happens when accelerating from a stop, but I'm pretty sure mine is always clicking. Is it only during acceleration or will it click all the time?

only during acceleration at slow speeds you will hear it.. Like backing out a parking space, driving in a parking lot, etc... I hear the clicks.. I just learn to love it.. Again.. FTL..

Hmmmm.. Mine isn't limited to acceleration. I'm hearing mine from acceleration to driving 35-40 mph.. Wonder what it is.

Ive been having the same issue and it seems to be getting worse. From a stop, deceleration, shifting i get multiple clicks. Does anyone have a link to the official TSB on this fix?

http://www.350z -tech.com/zwiki/Service:TSB_04-065_Suspension_Clicking_Noise_From_Rear_Axle

Copy and paste and delete the space, that's the link to the TSB.

If mine isn't the TSB click, what else could it be, because I know it still clicks at about 35-40 mph and I'm cruising.

I just made an appointment for Tuesday to have them look at it, I figure why not, the car still has it's drive line warranty so if there is anything wrong related/unrelated it will get fixed. I'm gonna take a closer look at the wheel Saturday when I put my suspension on though. Any other ideas what could cause the ticking while cruising? The only other thing I can think of is debris or wheel bearing.

Mine does it. I'll live with it as long as it does'nt hurt anything. I hate dealerships. Well I hate the one here anyway.

Well this is a very easy check, if it is only speed related clicking make sure you don't just have a rock stuck in your tire tread making the noise.

I have this problem too, I doubt it's a wheel bearing at only 25,000 miles on my car as it would probably get louder as the faster I drove, but it doesn't. I can especially hear it when I'm against a wall or trees, right rear wheel for me too. Now since mine is an 04 and out of the bumper to bumper warranty will this still be covered?

Not a rock checked the tires already

My Z is going in for this on Monday. I get the click when starting from 1st gear or in reverse. We'll see what the dealer says.

OK, got a call from the dealer. They will take the axle assembly apart, replace some bolts and put it all back together while retorquing everything back up. We'll see what that does.

<hijack>
On a side note, my tires are feathering in the front. They would not cover it under warranty. The period for the feathering issue expired and the extended warranty does not cover alignments or tires. The previous owner was ignorant and never had this taken car of. Suck. Had to vent. </hijack>

I just started getting the click noise. As desribed by many it does it when coming out of first and also if you let off the gas and get back on slightly. It is not constant just does it once. I'm hoping it's my brakes as they are worn, I should be getting the new pads tomorrow. I'll investigate a bit further when changing the pads.

I have this rear axle click ONCE in awhile when i accelerate while turning. I hope it doesn't get worse. @Ziggyrama: Isn't the tire feathering caused by off toe adjustment?

I would loosen the axle nut and gently tap the axle in. It will go in about an inch. Then clean the splines (inside and outside) with brake cleaner, and carefully hit it with a liberal dose of some copper anti-seize (from a spray straw works well). Then torque the nut back to specs...(176 lb/ft). I did this 3 months ago and so far it's been click free. I know you should fully remove the shaft, but for diagnostic purposes this is all you need to do. If the click remains, then suspect a bad cv joint......even if the boot is still OK! I've seen cv's go bad and click while going straight before, it's very possible.

Yes the feathering is from too much toe out. This can also be caused by a bad compression rod bushing. You'd have a car that wanders and pulls if that happened.
