Default Head and Cam swap

I was wondering what kind of gains people have seen with head and cam swaps on NA cars. I did a search already, but couldn't find much on those specific mods. I am seriously thinking of doing this with my car, so also please include what compresion ratio's and cam lift duration you are running.

need more info...what year is your car (rev-up, HR,....), what are you looking to gain and how much are you willing to give up (streetability, higher idle,...)? There's lots of info out there, but in general, after most ppl do the #'s, they end up going FI b/c it's around the same cost.

The only heads I know of that are a direct "swap" are the Cosworth, and IIRC they're around 4k, without cams.

You need to spend about a week on here looking through the hundreds of threads that go into detail on what you're asking.

You will need more fuel/bigger injectors, extensive ecu tuining, and high compression pistons in addittion to head work to get 300whp. Will be as much as f/i but, imo, alot more satisfying and more fun to drive.

You wont see much info on head/cam swaps for NA due to the cost involved between parts and labor you are probably looking at around 7k for not much of a gain, the stock heads flow pretty well and changes usually are made when going FI to improve flow just like cams. Cams on NA with some tuning will probably give you 10hp or so but at a cost of about 2500 plus tuning.

7K? Geez. What kind of gains would he see out of stock ported heads and some nice cams? With all the other bolt ons to go along of course.

Wait a minute, $7k for headers and cams? I don't think so. I am in the process to go full out NA and I got a quote of around half that price for Strup headers, JWT S1 cams installed w/ my utec re-tuned.

Does that include heads? The OP was referring to heads not headers. Your quote seems high to me too. You can do all the labor yourself, just have a professional tune the car.

If he is talking about new heads like Cosworth, they are 4k, cams are 1k, then labor and headgaskets you will be in the 7k range.

I am not worried about labor, I can do the work myself. And I am actually looking at the JWT high compression (12:1) heads, I am not sure which cams I am going to go with yet, but if anybody has a suggestion let me know. I am also not sure what lift duration i will go with yet so any suggestions would be helpful

Where did you find those? What kind of heads are they? I'm assuming stock heads?

Sorry, I was mistaken, it was Nismo high compression heads not JWT. I am looking at those and a head and cam package that comes from Z1 motorsports that includes the following:

Z1 VQ35 Reworked performance Head Package includes: - Z1 performance cams/springs - Substantial FI portwork - Completely Reworked VQ Heads

It costs about 2K after you send back your old heads and cams.
I am just trying to figure out if it is worth it. The web site for this if you want to check it out is www.*********.com

Does anyone here know anything about Z1 motorsports, I am seriously considering buying their head and cam package set up, but I would like to make sure they are a reputable company before I do any buissness with them.
