Unhappy Engine Performance????????

Hey guys this is kinda a continuation of a post i made over in the racing section, but it fits here as well and maybee i can get some answers

i took my car to the track, and the results werevt very good from what i understand

the track is at 550 feet--- it was 78 degrees out-- 0 humidity

R/T 1.166 ( fell asleep at the light )
60' 2.135
330 6.048
1/8 9.271
MPH 77.79
1000 12.002
1/4 14.310
MPH 95.90

what im concerned about is my trap speed---- my 60' and 330' are pretty decent imo, but arent most of you z owners pullin 100mph+ trap speeds??? with those 60' and 330' i feel i should be running a 14.0 at 100+ accorind to everyones numbers on here

im worried about the performance of my engine--- im wondering if its not putting out what its supposed to be------ im pretty confused and worried-- can anyone offer me any ideas or advice????

i was thinking of reseting my ecu before the next time i go to the track-- and just beating on it a little to reset the mapping if possible----- but still---- i just feel like the car isnt pushing hard enough in 3rd and 4th

please help!!!

Many factors could be the reason you didn't get such a good time.

1) How high about sea-level are you?
2) How was the weather? Rainy/Foggy/Cold/Hot ect.
3) How good of a driver are you?
4) Did you turn off your traction control?

If you are very concerned, I suggest 2 things. 1) Retry it again at the track after a little more practice... and if that fails, 2) Give the keys into someones hands who you trust and know is a GOOD driver and see what they get.

The real questions are these:

1) what model Z do you have?
2) do you have any aftermarket parts at all? wheels? chrome? aesthetics?
3) how many miles do you have on your car?
4) at what mileage was your last oil change?
5) how much gas did you have in the car?
6) roughly how much do you weigh?
7) did you have crap in the truck, or see above on aftermarket parts, heavy stereo?
8) were you running 91 or 93 octane?
9) are you bouncing off the rev limiter even once in any gear?
10) are you short shifting to avoid hitting the rev limiter?

I could go on and on with these variables.

My main concern is your car's mileage, and oil change, and extra weight and/or parts.

2000 miles is pretty low, barely past breakin. That's probably a big part of it.

Keep racing and see how your times go.

I would almost guarantee you you will see a performance boost somewhere near 3000 miles. I saw it, and my gas mileage changed noticably 3-5 mpg, with no change in driving (I drive 15 mins on the freeway at night with zero traffic, very constant). So something happened. I feel like it's still getting better.

That first oil change is important also.

If you are still having the same problems at 3500 miles, we'll talk

Thinking even more on this, high end pull seems to have changed a lot especially, so this would explain your trap speeds. I felt like my car was slower 70-110 than my 2000 Eclipse GT on the freeway, was a bit disconcierting. It's so noticably better now that I don't think that my Eclipse could be even slightly close now.

yeah, no real reason why any model should be faster than another at the strip. Suspension, engine, exhaust, etc, is all the same on all models. The only factor would be tire and wheel weight, which has proved to be negligible from the 1/4 mile times we have seen.

At 3600 miles on my Perf Z I hit 14.2@100.81 with 1/2 tank gas and stuff in the trunk with an ok 60' of 2.24 . Last week I went into the 13's with 4600 miles with no spare and 1/4 gas with a best trap of 100.86

My best time in the Z is a 14.4 @ 98 mph. However, I'm in sunny AZ and well below sea level, but I'm trying my best to get even lower.
