The exhaust opening looks too small and restrictive in the picture. I hope that's just a plug. Anyways, my friend had an ITR with the Racing Madallion and it sounded really mean without the plug. However, that exhaust had a 3 " opening canister.

I'm curious about those tips too...if they're just plugs that's cool, but if those are permaneant, it looks restrictive.

the exhaust has the silencers installed. Tanabe racing medalion series exhausts have a reputation for being loud...the silencers supposedly give better midrange torque while going without improves top end power.

a'pexi as well as other manufacturers offer silencers for those more interested in passing dB regulations. Its just a tube that reduces the surface area of the perforated straight-through pipe in the muffler thereby reducing noise.

once youve seen enough exhausts with these silencers it doesn't seem as unattractive or cheap...and if you live in areas where the pigs hound you for modified exhaust you can't avoid it.

yep, that exactly what they are! my buddy has that set-up on his S2000. with them in it cuts the sound down by a good 35-40% I would guess. but as far as not effecting the HP, not ture!! Im not 100% sure on the number but we did a back to back runs (well actually about a 15 min rest) without htem and then with them...lost something like 2.3HP

My original statement was not in disagreement with you. Having the silencers in improves mid-range torque...the downside being that there is greater backpressure with an associated loss in power which goes along what i said about top end power being improved without the silencers.

This in terms of performance is of course is marketing speak...info available from the manufacturers...how true im not sure.

Tanabe makes some pretty decent exhaust... but the tips got to go.. it doesn't belong to our Z imo.

Now if it can make some power, like around 10-15+, I may be interested.. the price is not bad..

Come on Borla, let's see your TRUE DUAL exhaust.. I can't wait..

I like the RS-R and Greddy EVO better looks wise. I want to see the Injen dual canister when that is done too.
