Default "Clutch Shudder" question

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this issue regularly like I have and if they found a way to fix it.

I've got an '06 with roughly 19k on it, when I let out the clutch at a low RPM the entire car will shudder. The engine isn't dying, as I'm around 12-1500 RPM. I spoke to a mechanic at my dealership and he suggested it was just slack being picked up in the rear diff but that doesn't make much sense to me.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks!

yes....I have an 06 and have experienced the same "shudder"....a coworker has the same car and has experienced the same thing.....I have just assumed they all do it.....and decided theres nothing that can be done.....I think I mentioned it to the dealer once and of course nothing ever happened....I have just decided to live with it and give it more gas....it does really annoy me at times...

I've noticed it, from time to time, but I don't think much of it, since it happens so infrequently.

Kinda off topic... but my '02 MR2 does it the first half dozen or so times when cold.

we can chalk it up with the throw out bearing like noise. Even the G's have that. Or so my buddies 06 Sedan does anyhow.

My '06 doesn't "shudder" when starting off but it does kind of "hiccup" when letting out the clutch from 1st to 2nd gear. It annoys the heck out of me. I've never had such a touchy manual trans car before.

If after several 1000 miles you start to get a shutter, Then there is something out of wack in the pressure Plate, like a "out of square" release because of a bad diaphram or a pilot bearing that went bad----Nothing will help it other than taking it apart and inspecting it, and if you do that , you mite as well replace it or upgrade

My '06 does it about 30% of the time.... I had an '04 prior to my '06, it did it too...

Here's what's happening that makes the whole car shudder: the clutch is slipping, then grabbing, slipping, then grabbing, on the drivetrain. This causes the whole car to vibrate violently.

YES..........I've had this problem and I now know there are 2 things you can do about this.

1: Launch using higher RPM.

2: Replace differential fluid. Your car is having higher rolling resistance when it's at a stop due to dirty diff fluid. Replace it and I guarantee your car will launch easier at lower RPM. I know it sounds kinda weird, but I promise you, it will help GREATLY.

By doing these 2 things you can basically eliminate this problem. Much cheaper than buying a new clutch, which is what I **almost** did.

So, would you suggest using the Royal Purple gear oil? Sometimes I have heard that Royal Purple may not be the best idea in some cases?

I used redline 75W-90 with limited slip additive. I've been happy with it but I think my diff is full of shavings again, and I will probably change the fluid again.

Yup, I've had this problem too. Adjust your shifting habits and you can learn to avoid it.

+1 for Wired 24/7 and you can avoid the issue even better.

Or you could just read what I posted, because I'm right, and when you go to your dealership they will tell you "nothing is wrong", because technically, nothing is wrong.
