Default LSD mind boggle.....

Hey everyone...
I was slapping some rear pads on my 04 z (enthusiast model btw), and for some reason out of curiousity decided to spin a wheel...In the process of this I noticed the the other wheel was spinning the opposite way I was turning the one wheel....For years I was always under the impression that an lsd rear will always turn both tires in the same direction....My car has fairly low miles and is not raced at the track or anything like that....The rear has never shown any hint of one legging or anything like that, and yes I am 100% sure I have the enthusiast model....
Anyone care to see if there car is the same way or can enlighten me on this topic??? thanks!!

VLSD's will not lock until the viscous fluid within heats up sufficiently. That is probably why you are experiencing this phenomenon.

If you have the transmission in neutral with the wheels off the ground both will turn in the same direction, if the driveshaft is locked they will turn in opposite directions and you will feel considerable drag.

^^ +1 when I remove a vlsd diff out of a Z (no drag) the vlsd diff spins both the same direction.

The vlsd i put in my car always spins both tires. It leaves 2 black marks each time so im sure its working. Eventually they do get worn out and behave more like an open diff.
