Default Blah!

just got back from the dragon, ran for about 3 hours up there, stop and go, id pull over, pop the hood, let the engine cool for 30 every so often, but i got back and it was a quart low its an 06' with a revup, but whenever i go up there and "wind the **** out of it" (i shift at 6700 pretty much everytime, i never really abuse the car), it burns oil bad. is runnin the ol' VQ hard for a couple hours every couple weeks gonna end up throwin a rod or bustin a gasket or somethin, or should it be ok if i keep putin a quart of synthetic in everytime i go up? answers from gearheads only, i dont want advice on a serious matter like this comin from guys like me :P

revups are known to consume oil at a more rapid rate than previous years, and winding the snot out of it over and over, in the heat, will only exaggerate the problem...so you sorta answered your own question already

Yeah the 06 revup definately eats the oil up. Have you talked to your dealership yet?

if you don't keep it filled, yes, it will cause big problems

if you're asking if it will get better on its own? Nope, it will at best stay the same, at worst, the consumption will get worse

I'd recommend going to a heavier weight oil - refer to the owners manual
