Default 11.5:1 high compression Pistons

Wow, really high compression pistons for those who want to stay NA. No idea on gains, but damn they look sweet.

I have heard that on smaller displacement motors (3.5 L is more a mid sized motor IMO) each point of compression is roughly = to 10 hp, so if you go from 10:1 to 11.5:1 you gain 15 hp in theory, although asi mentioned, bigger motor may = bigger gains.

You could probably get a piston set from JUN, JE or Tomei for a lot less than what Esprit is charging.

I was excited to see the pistons, but then that died upon seeing the price. Ross, JE, or even Young Racing, would make a CUSTOM set to ANY spec for HALF that price. But it's kewl to see they made some, they're paving the way for others to do so as well.

I'm digging that rear spoiler that they're offering though... I think it goes well with the rear curves of the car.

Keep in mind that just raising compression isnt a freebie mod. On stock cams and pump gas your knock sensor might just retard so much you'll end up losing power also, any ECU mod will be taking the stock commpression into consideration.

This had been discussed earlier here...

If you're gonna go tearin' into the engine like that, why not put in LOWER compression pistons and then...

I agree with Mike. If I'm tearing down my internals it's gonna be for some forged rods and some 8.5:1 JUN's.

With that type of compression, some crazy whp is possible.

*IF* you are doing forced induction. It would kill the whp if you lowered the compression and stayed Naturally Aspirated

Believe me, I am not considering lowering compression without adding a greddy twin turbo system. if i were going NA, I would be looking at an 11.5/1.0 piston set.

Well, here is my report from the recent option magazine.

Mines 350Z came in with 320ps/6450rpm, 40.9kgm/4500rpm.

Major Mod include:

11.5:1 forge piston
fast cam (in&ex 246, 10.25mm lift)
Mines VX ROM (ECU)
Mines VX Air Filter

Since I can't read japanese, so I can't tell you about if they did port and polish and any other "things" to it.

That is alot of work for 40HP there.

wow 320 rwhp?? thats a good +80 hp to stock on NA engine. Where can i find more info on this? Might be a viable solution till the turbo systems become available and reliable.

Why do people always assume that lower CR = more boosted power

8.5:1 will make throttle response horrible off boost and net crappy gas milage

I have more than a few 10:1 applications running 7-9 psi just fine, not on 350's mind you
