I just got a new block yesterday and it .020 overbore. There are these chips at the bottom of they cylinder wall. Is this block still usable or no? Is there anything I can do to fix it instead of having to get a new block? It got sold to me this way so if it is not ok I will take it up with. I appreciate the help guys.
Pics:
EDIT: The block came from GTM I am not sure if they did the work on it or not but it came from GTM.
are those chips from impact or grinding marks?if they are impact i would at minimum line hone since those marks are on the upper part of the crank saddle.grind marks just take sharp edges off and clean up real good.

+1 are they impact marks, or ground out by hand? i see no reason for someone needing to grind that portion out so inconsistently.
need better pics.but either way looks like you can use it.who knows what it's life has been like? a freshening at the machine shop is cheap insurance and helps make power anyway
So what you are saying is it is usable I just have to smooth out those chips?
i would say yes ,along with a line hone, bore hone with torque plate and maybe decked just for good measure.(if this work was done post damage you can probably go right to assembly)keep in mind without looking at it in person this is just my opinion from what i can see..how about those better pictures?you could just assemble and cross your fingers, but for a couple hundred bucks you will have some peace of mind with a freshening.
