I have heard that Nismo just stopped manufacturing their VTC pulleys...

http://z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?model...ine&prodid=922

The only other option that I know of is the HKS Valcon which i believe only works on Japanese model cars...

VQ35's have continuously variable intake cam timing. Meaning it's always changing depending on RPM and load for optimal performance. If you're speaking in terms of the exhaust cams, no such thing exists.

Ehhmmm, no. Hondas VTEC motors, for instance, have dual overhead cams and they make adjustable cam gears for them. They're not made for VQ's because they have a closed, "wet" timing cover.

Two completely different types of products. As for the latter, there's V-Manage available for that.

That stinks about the Nismo VTC phasers though. I think I remember reading somewhere that the 07+ altima VTC phasers have a wider sweep than the previous VQ's. If not, there's always the possibility of opening up a stock phaser and trying to grind away at the stops to give them a wider sweep.

Please enlighten me on how these are two completely different products?

Here is another page for reference:

the only adjustable sprockets were the NISMO ones

Even still, having the pieces themselves give you zero benefit - they are only designed for use on high duration cams (ie not stock and not the typical JWT, or US Spec NISMO ones most people fit) with steep ramp rates - think JUN, Tomei, Esprit, type cams. And then, you need an ecu that can actually control them. At the present time, there are very few ecu's that can do this (Haltech, Pectel, Motec, Hydra are all I am aware of)

Of course you can adjust cam timing on dual overhead cam motors......Subaru, Mitsubishi, etc etc

The Valcon is a plug and play controller for use with stock cam sprockets - lets you manually dial in cam timing. Problem is its not officially offered in the US, and not the easiest thing in the world to get interpreted instructions for.

From talking to Unorthodox racing I got word that they had considered making adjustable sprockets for the VQ but the cost of making them was too high to be feasable.
