'07 owners-How's your oil consumption?
I think the HR is a solid motor. If it wasn't, I don't think Nissan would run it in the G35 sedan, then the Z, and still keep it in the Z for 2008. They already tarnished the image with the rev-up.
Look at us non rev-ups. From 03 to 05, and stayed on the AT 06 models. Also a solid motor, just don't make enough power or rev high enough.

I also have 11,850 3 oil changes with zero loss.
Getting the 07 was luck. When I got my Z I did not know the difference from the 06. I just liked the hood. For $1000 that I paid over the 06 it was the best bit of luck I have had in a while. The HR rocks.

Whats weird about it? You got a properly working engine. For 30-35$k do you expect anything less?
With that said. I only have 2300 miles on it and no burn here. I dont expect any either.

I drive the car pretty hard...That's what i meant...I thought we might have the same problems as the 06's, but It's good to know we don't have to worry about that problem
even 1 quart in 3000 miles isn't too bad. It's just a result of blow-by
You lose more oil when free revving, idling etc. When engine is under load, oil doesn't blow by too easily.

10,500, recommended nissan break-in, 2 oil changes, dragracing quite a few times, beat on it like a red headed step child, no burned oil, running like a champ (clutch is starting to act up)
3600 miles , first change at 1200, castrol gtx, now due again, no usage at all...I broke mine in right away at 200 miles, doing 160 mph 7.5k shifts !! That's how you do it...don't baby that HR motor...she's strong !!

I noticed that my Xo2 tips are still clean and sut free as well...
I am excited about getting my 07 in the next few days
glad to hear that aside from the clutch issue, we get a rock solid engine and most of the issues from the previous model years have been worked out. Its about time! I drove a 98 Honda Prelude these past 2 years, and oil consumption was a regular thing: ~1.5qts in 3000 miles
and my slave cylinder went out at one point
So oil consumption and bad slave cylinders I can deal with!
