Should I be worried for my engine?
So yesterday a very severe thunder storm hit as I was driving. It got so bad I couldn't see out my windshield 2 feet in front of my face, then traffic came to a dead stop as I was in a intersection which then I could feel I was going through a huge puddle of water (CAI) and about that time my Z wouldn't rev past 2,000 rpm's which was scary because I couldn't see + my car was bogging a lot as it would hit the 2,000 RPM mark.
I eventually made it home, and checked on my Z about 30 minutes after getting home. It was working fine then but my worry is should I expect anything bad to come of this? Or should it be fine? Also my friend was saying he smelled some weird smell coming from the exhaust, which at that point I smell it too. Sort of like a burning clutch smell...

Sounds like you probably sucked up water into your intake and the MAF got wet. This put your car into Limp Mode which sets the rev limiter to 2k among other things. As long as it is running fine today, I wouldn't worry about it. However, I do suggest you invest in an AEM bypass valve they make for cold air intakes. This would prevent further problems with CAI in the rain.

That was one hell of a storm yesterday. Just got back from renting a DVD at Blockbuster and was about to pull in the garage when all hell broke loose. My daughter was in the car and I had to pull in the garage (leaving a wide space on the passenger side), let her out, back out again, and reposition the car so that there was a normal space between the Z and our CRV on the driver's side. She refused to get out because the rain was coming down so hard she would have been totally drenched and her hair would have been ruined (poor thing). The wind that came with the storm half totalled a tree in our front yard and left about 2000 other people without power. One hell of a Tucson monsoon.

Where are you located? You must be in my area if the trees were being knocked down, because I saw tons of trees in the road down Ina. I'm at craycroft/Sunrise but by the time I got there it wasn't as bad, it was more north/west and north/east at the time for me which was around 6:30 P.M.
To bad I couldn't enjoy the storm from the comfort of my home. Instead it trapped me in it...
