Just put in a Quaife LSD
I must say, I just recently installed a Quaife LSD for my 03 Base Model Z and it is sexy! Even with balding tires I still get an awesome launch and there is absolutly no noise! Yes it is a little on the pricey side ($1,450 for the part, $150 install, and a $175 shorter axel stub) but I truely believe it was worth it. The reason I bring this up is because it is very rare that I have actually seen anybody post about the Quaife, just take it into consideration when possibly buying an LSD

ok I thought I have a base model due to the fact that thats what the VIN number says it is, but the guy I bought it from said it was a touring model, but I don't have heated seats, so honestly I don't know what model I have because I have a little of everything lol. Anyway, I put most of the parts in my car so I just took the pumkin and the new LSD and "Progear Differentials" (the shop) and they just swapped out the old diff for the new one and told me I needed a new shorter axel stub. After that I went back to my car and reinstalled the pumpkin
Thanks for the positive review. I've been thinking the Quaife is a good way to go. As for trim level, the base level is the only one w/o a factory VLSD, right? It's also the only one w/o either traction control or VDC, I think. Do you have a button to the left of the steering column for TCS or VDC? If so, it's not a base model.
BTW, I didn't think there was a way to tell trim level from the VIN. Can anyone explain?

i always wonder why more people don't get this diff, it always gets good reviews on whatever car its one, and it has a lifetime warrenty, thats not voided the instant u see the track, thats right, warranty even covers it if u break it racing
i've only found 2 places, the actual Quaife web site or Manufacturers Depot
http://www.manufacturersdepot.com/Ca...fferential+LSD
try this site it will give u the option for Auto or Manual Transmission LSD.

edit: oops it was 1385 not 1360
I have the quaife as well, installed it a few weeks ago... can really tell the difference powering through/out of a turn...still loses it a bit when accellerating in a straight line...
