Default clicking noise from rear when starting.

i have this click click noise from the rear right side of my car when i start moving, in reverse or first, and only sometimes. pretty rare actually but its there sometimes. i know there is a TSB about it, something about the axle or driveshaft bolts needing to be re-torqued/re-greased and it sounds like that is exactly the problem, BUT, i got this noise after i slid into a sidewalk long story short the rain at just begun, i used to drive with VDC off, lost it hit the side walk from the front left side, now hearing this click noise from rear right. maybe the impact cause the bolts to loosen? i don't know, any help with this is appreciated.

Are your wheels at all damaged? If the car is still clean, and no evidence of the impact - take it the dealer...you likely need the TSB - but at the same time, you could have a bad bearing, from the accident.

hmmm, if it was the bearing, would i only hear it sometimes? i figured i'd hear it alot. but this is just like random...

oh and could the impact have caused the weak bolts to loosen, cause like there is the TSB so maybe the accident just made it more....?
thanks

It's not a bolt loosening thing..the TSB that is. From thr factory, the mating surface is not lubed - and it shoudl have been. it's actually a fix for an improper build technique. so the unit is removed, then lubed, then put back together.

As far as the bearings - yea, could be. It depends on the level of TQ/force being put on the bearings, if it is in fact an issue.

OK - so they either didn't replace the bots and nuts and washers and re-torque - or there is something else wrong.

Have you gone back? What did they say?

They said it's normal and I should read about it in this website.

The problem is exactly as described on the initial thread.

Is there a link to this TSB so I can read about it?

I know this about a year from the last post, but recently my '04 Track has had a clicking noise in the rear on the driver's side.

According to the TSB NTB04-065b, the surface of the axle needs to be greased and new bolts, nuts, and cotter pin need to be installed. However......

I have also seen a TSB that stated the entire drive axle needs to be replaced. Does anyone have any inside information on the this?

Thanks!

There is a TSB on this. I have attached the file. Nissan in Lancaster, PA just did both of my axles today (Oct.7) and the clicking is gone.

Sorry, the file is too big. Here is the TSB: NTB04-065b

Just "Google" it or go to Nissanhelp.com

Is this free? Is it under the power train warranty?
