Default Auto mode pulls better than MM??

Hey guys i have an Automatic 06 350z. I put in my exhaust/testpipes/xpipe/spacer recently. I can see that there is a huge difference in performance from my stock Z. However, for some reason I feel that the automatic mode pull faster than the MM mode. Does this make sense? I was just wondering if it was just me or does the automatic mode pull faster with my mods. Please no stupid replys like "Dumbass get a manual" ...cause that doesnt really answer the question. lol Thanks

Show us what that bad boy will do. Post a time slip here: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840-top-25-1-4-mile-times-for-tt-st-supercharger-nitrous-bolt-ons-stock.html.

You can't possibly shift as fast or as accurate as your auto can when you put it in drive. It was programmed at the optimal shift points from the factory, so you can't really expect to win when you are essentially racing against a computer. You have to consider that there is a time delay involved between when you tell the tranny to shift and when it actually does when you are using MM mode. Each time you encounter one of these delays, and/or shift even 100 rpm above/below the optimum shift point you're losing ground to one that has the human control element removed. I'd say the manual mode is more for fun that it is for increased straight line performance.

Auto will shift at the correct points under full load, but it doesn't keep you in a high rpm range when cruising, so you get extra hesitation when you jump on it (due to the tranny dropping down into a "passing" gear once you hit the throttle) -- manual mode is much better for controlling your (what is in effect) throttle response by allowing you to down-shift early or otherwise elect to stay in a higher rpm range.

In a well tuned auto car with good clutches and a shift kit, I tend to think a hard 2 gear downshift (like from 4 - 2) feels faster and more responsive than stabbing it with the tranny in the same gear (2). But thats just my opinion.

Modern well-programmed A/Ts perform very well. In some cases outperform the identical car with clutch. No arguement here. I like six speeds only because of the fun factor. There sure has been a lot of name calling and generally childish behavior when it comes anywhere this topic. I never understood that. Get what you enjoy.

bingo..
if you stomp on the pedal from a dead stop, manual mode won't be needed, but when you're cruising, you'd want be in a higher rmp than what your AT mode gives you.
