My 6sp manual transmission completely seized up
Today I was on my way to autobarn nissan for the second time with my transmission issues. About 3 miles from my house while shifting into 5th I felt it just kind of slide in. I discovered that both my 5th and 6th gears did absolutely nothing... I was able to just slide the shifter into those gears without engaging the cluth and it was like I was just sitting in neutral when in them.
Thinking that I could make it to Autobarn with only 4 gears, which is 40 miles from my house mind you, I kept driving and eventually reached I55. After about 2 minutes of driving ~55mph at 3.5k rpm I pull over to the side of the road and restart my car thinking that would somehow fix 5th and 6th...
To my suprise not only did that not fix the gears, it completely seized up my tranmission. Even when engaging the clutch I could not shift it into ANY gear. And when in neutral I could only move the shifter to the left side (where 1 and 2 are located) and back to the middle. 5th, 6th, or reverse were no longer an option AT ALL!
From there I got the Z towed to Orland Park Nissan and have to wait until monday to find out anything about it...
Anyone have an idea what could have possibly happened? This is kind of rediculous timing considering my powertrain warranty is over MONDAY!!
Will the tow be covered under warranty? I assume the tranny work will be...?
