1. Can you swap rev up valve springs and non rev up valve springs?
2. Are the rev up connecting rods that much stronger than non rev up?
3. What is the part that actually fails in the low end on the 287 engine when run at sustained high rpm's(7500)? .....rod bolts, rods, pin ripping away from the piston, bearings
4. Can you swap rod bolts without "cap shifting"?
5. If the valve springs are stiff enough to elimate valve float and a 287 engine is run between 6500 and 7500 rpm what is known to fail.
6. If its "safe" to flash a rev up to a 7500 redline why not a non rev up with exclusion to the valve springs?
If anybody is wondering I am installing cams, valve springs, and ti retainers. A rev up oil pump is a little insurance but I don't want to use excessive valve springs. I am aware that ti retainers extend the rpm range of valve springs a little but while your there why not just swap them, hence the question of rev up springs with ti retainers should be "safe". If I can throw in some rod bolts while the oil pan is off for insurance without risking "cap shifting" that would be nice as well. But why throw good bolts in junk rods, for na how much rpm are the stock rods good for? Hope this starts an interesting thread.
