Default hp modification question

I have a z on order, that is currently late, but I was looking at a g35 the other day. The infiniti salesman told me that the engine was electronically limited to 280 hp but that in july an electronic module would be available to allow for 315 hp without voiding the warranty. He also claimed that there was an aftermarket module that would allow the engine to achieve the full 400 hp that the engine can achieve however that modification would void the warranty and wasn't a nissan/infiniti part. Has anyone else heard of these or do I just sould like I'm full of ****?

It doesn't sound like you're full of sh*t. However, it does sound like the Infiniti dealer is. No way of telling when aftermarket ECM's will be available, or what the horsepower gains from them will be. It should be soon, but no one knows for sure when it's finally gonna happen.

I doubt, no I know, that no ECU is going to make an extra 120 hp...you're dealer is making up stuff again. The engine's full potential may be 400 hp, but you're going to get there just by getting an ECU. To make 315 is very optomistic, as that would be a 35 hp gain.

I think the 7 lost hp on the G has to do with the intake and exhaust tuning. The G's intake is very restrictive.

I wouldn't totaly discredit this yet. This is not the first time that these 2 packages have been brought up.

I know it sounds like a bunch of caca, BUT I have been hearing more about a NISMO turbo kit, which would most likely be the 400 HP package with no warranty. Some fairly creditable people on this site have also hinted toward this package.

I know everyone thinks that as soon as a dealer related person opens their mouth its BS, but I have heard the same about the turbo from my dealer. They were right on about the stillen SC way before people were talking about it, so I have no real reason to doubt them on this.

Oh yeah, no doubt that turbo will achieve 400 hp. If they are talking about an ECU alone making 400 hp...no way, although I guess "allowing" an engine to make hp is different. If the ECU is just allowing more hp to be made then that's cool, but I think the dealer should mention, "Oh yeah, one more thing, about the ECU that makes 400 hp, yeah, you gotta buy an eight-thousand dollar turbo kit with it to make it work right."

What Nismo turbo kit? I haven't seen or heard anything about it. And yeah, dealers will tell you all kinds of crap to interest you in buying the car. used car salesman: Have you seen F&F? You know the orange car? the supra? it beat that ferrari. This is the same car. And can be yours for only 8 grand. (don't forget the mods though, cause that's the only way to beat a Ferrari.)

Default No Nismo Parts For Infiniti

No way a ECU gives you anywhere remotely close to 120 hp. You will be lucky to get 12 hp on most NA engines. To put this in relation, most 911 TT (with air intake, exhaust, and cats w/ ECU) gets a claimed 90 hp increase on a turbo engine. I read in motor Trend last month where they said flat out they are not bringing in after market parts for the Infiniti G35 coupe, only the 350 Z. To get to 400 hp you need a.) Turbo or b.) Supercharger.

No way? Unless you are talking about the 350Z only. Does a diesel ring a bell? They can easily make 100+hp on a ECU. Most ECU's for gasoline engines get around 35hp on a NA engine. Now I do believe there is a way to get 400hp with no FI on the Z. Internals, overbore, port polish everything, transmission upgrades, exhaust, intake, TB, headers, ECU, programmer, the works. You can push out 400+hp NA on this engine with no FI.

Show proof of either of these claims, i have never seen an integra, camaro, or any car gain 35HP dyno proven from just a chip, add other mods and a cutom chip and it may be different, but that is an entirely different scenario. Deisils get 100 HP from a chip?!?!?!
